I can't say enough good things about this addition to the neighborhood. Drawn in by the big Burrito flag on the highway, I found the food to be insanely good.
Im a regular customer for their steak and egg breakfast burritos. They also have al pastor, pork, chicken.
The Carne Asada is heavenly. The steak was perfectly marinated and cooked, and it cut easily. The pico de gallo was fresh and homemade. Their rice is excellently seasoned and fluffy. It came with two corn tortillas, which tasted great.
The tortas are packed with meat and fresh lettuce, tomatoes, jalapeños, onions, and avocado. The bread is fresh and soft. They're a rather large meal.
Once in a while, they have tamales, which are excellent.
The store has a reasonably stocked Mexican market with good spices, sauces, etc. They have Mexican Coke and Fanta with real cane sugar as opposed to high fructose corn syrup. They have cans or bottles of Mexican apple cider, tamarind, mango, watermelon, peach, coconut, and other fruit drinks, as well as Coke products, lemonade, OJ, Power Ade, and Monster drinks.
The owners and staff are all wonderful and I consider them friends. The store is open fairly late. They keep the store spotless. Seating and tables are sparse, for a total of about 12 people.
My biggest problem with this place is that Im going to be spending a lot of money here. You should also bring some wet napkins because your hands will be covered in...
Read moreUpdate: 8/22/2025; Still delicious. Yes, I keep coming back with anyone that's with me. The U.S. Marine owner is just awesome. Update 11/11/23: Just found out today that the very nice young lady at the front of the counter (owner) is a U.S. Marine, I will definitely continue enjoying the very delicious food at this unassuming place.
Update 6/22/23: This place continues to be legit and truly authentic. The Birria Tacos are delicious. The way they are served with the dipping stew and toasted with seasoned tortillas and melted cheese is OG. It takes a long time and a lot of different spices. At $12 per order, it's a bargain. You'll get these tacos in a Birria taco stand in Mexico.
So we started coming to this place when it first opened. The Caldo de Res (beef stew) and sopes are legit. They are 100% Mexican food authentic and delicious. The tacos are quite spot on. The rest of the menu is also authentic and very good, but our go to is the sopes and caldo de res with fresh made corn tortillas. The place is very small with only a couple of tables and the groceries they offer are limited and we happily take the 15 minute drive often for a quick delicious authentic Mexican meal when we don't feel like cooking at home. We recommend this place...
Read moreThis is, hands down, one of the greatest taco and Mexican cuisine places I've ever been to, and that's after 7 years in Texas and 9 months living in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
The front of the shop sells numerous popular Mexican products, imported goods and drinks. There are also baked pastries for sale at the front register.
However, the restaruant/deli portion of the restaurant is the most spectacular part. The staff is friendly, capable, polite and works quickly to bring out food. The food itself is sensational.
Taco tortilla shells are heated in a homemade broth, crisped for texture and flavor. An additional spicy sauce and dipping broth is added to each order. Cheese and toppings are placed under the meat for a more stable and delicious eating experience. The portions are generous and fortifying.
The deli has about five tables for seating inside, making this a true sit down restaurant, though many of the folks that stopped in while I was eating picked up speedy to go orders. There's plenty of parking nearby, as the restaurant is attached to other retail shops in a shared building. The staff is fully fluent in Spanish and English.
I highly recommend the birria tacos, though visitors can't go wrong regardless of what they order.
Please enjoy, I truly haven't found anything better for Mexican cuisine in all of the DC area.
