So incredibly disappointed in Mission BBQ!!
TL;DR: We ordered for a 50% larger party and received ~half the food! They showed up with no racks and no stenos in spite of it being requested. We absolutely did NOT get our money's worth.
Our first time catering our party with Mission BBQ was great!! This time it was anything but! We love supporting veteran-owned business but this time I really regret it.
We ordered for a party of 60, and paid accordinly ($900!!). This was a 50% larger order than last time we ordered from M. BBQ. It was needed because this was to be the largest party we've ever hosted. Unfortunately we received HALF the food than we did for the previous 40 person party!!
I can't tell you the exact quantities we received, but I can tell you this: We don't take vacations, instead we host two parties a year. We'd rather invest in great memories with family and friends. Point is we have done this a few times (though not always with Mission BBQ).
Every party we've hosted over the last 4 years (seven with one more to go this year) has been catered and every single time we had far more food. And not just a bit more, we're talking a lot more! IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!
We intentionally order more than we need so ppl can take food home. This time we literally ran out of food.
What's more they came without the proper racks, trays and stenos. This was another complete first for us. We always ask for all of the accouterments and have always received them. The delivery driver, while very polite, was somehow befuddled by the notion that we'd want them.
My wife ended up having to dig around in a sweltering attic to dig up stuff we could use, and a neighbor ran home to get the rest what we needed (they'd just hosted an Army retirement party 2 weeks ago).
In fairness the food we did receive was excellent; zero complaints there. That's the only reason this is two stars instead of one. The quality of food was great, but everything...
Read moreMy husband and I love the food at Mission BBQ, and given the fact that we choose to avoid gluten and high carb foods, it can make eating out challenging! However, we are usually quite content with the meat samplers, green beans, and cold slaw, but sometimes we have some potatoes, along with a variety of sugar free drinks. I wish the cheesy potatoes were a staple menu item! Over the last few weeks, life became very stressful as my husband was going through multiple diagnostic tests. We went to MBBQ after an MRI on 7/28, and we were approached by an angel employee named Maria. She asked how we were and may have seen the bandage on his arm. We looked at each other and got teary eyed. Maria was so kind, and soon came back with the sweetest little handwritten sign on brown paper, plus a plate of brownies and banana pudding! We wouldn't have eaten them typically, but that day was different! We promised to come back and let her know how the tests, prayers, and good wishes turned out. We returned on 8/12, and Maria spotted us first! Again, she took the time to come talk with us like old friends. We got the best possible news from the doctor, considering many other scenarios, and came back to "celebrate" the blessing of his news, good food, and big-hearted patriotic friends! This is truly a very special organization. We are so grateful for the sense of comradery among those who serve(d), respect for our great nation, and never forgetting the sacrifices of those who made it what it is for all. We love the rustic atmosphere, military/law enforcement/ firefighter/rescue memorabilia, very attentive employees, various booths, picnic style tables, and pub tables/chairs. There are multiple BBQ sauces, but we stick with the delicious vinegar...
Read moreI've ordered curbside pickup for some time now. Everytime has been a bad experience. I've held off on leaving a bad review. Kept giving it another shot. Tonight is the last time I order curbside pickup from this location. Everytime I call I'm put on hold for at least 6 minutes. Today was the worst wait time. I parked in front and waited 15 minutes. I called back and she put me on hold for an additional 6 minutes. She tells me she didn't know it was curbside, she's about to hang up and I ask her if she needs my cc info to charge me for the food. She says she'll bring my food right out and grab my card to charge me. Then it takes an additional 15 minutes, she sends a different employee out to give me my food. I should've driven off without paying, Lucky for the owner, I'm not that type of person. I had to give her a heads up that I wasn't asked for my cc info because she handed me my food and started to walk away.
I worked in a family owned restaurant for 10 years and get it. They're busy and over worked at times, short-handed etc...I try to be understanding and not be one of those customers that I couldn't stand back in the day. I think I've been a patient customer, I'm going to take a break from eating here.
I know it would have been quicker to get out of my car and get my food. I recently injured my knee and was trying to avoid being on it too long.I figured I'd just pick up food using curbside pickup on...
