Wanted to love it, but recipes and food quality need improvement... Went out for one of only a handful of family dinners since pandemic end. Being a vulnerable family, we appreciated that staff were still masked. We remained masked ourselves until drink and food came. We didn't see any masks on any other diners. Got an early reservation to try to avoid the crowd, but the good news for this place is that most of the Hibachi tables (and the bar) were pretty full by 6:30 p.m. on a Tuesday evening The week between Christmas and New Year's. My husband loves hibachi and it was our son's first experience. He actually loves sushi and we typically eat at Osaka, Umi or Sake in the Stafford area. We've always enjoyed the freshness of the sushi at the other restaurants and so we were shocked to have California roll and a vegetable roll tonight (my son just wanted more vegetable options tonight, so can't comment on the real stuff), that seemed like it had been sitting for some time. Same for the miso soup which arrived at the table lukewarm and tasted off for some reason. We really enjoy tempura and tonight, the vegetable tempura had a batter that was a little too heavy-handed and chewy. It just wasn't the right texture or flavor for that matter. As far as the meat, veggies and rice at the Hibachi? The rice was the best part of the meal, but the steak and chicken were meh. My husband and I agreed that we'd have to drive if we wanted Hibachi and that Stafford would be out altogether if the most highly rated option, Kobe, is the best we have. It's really too bad, as we really really wanted to like it. Hopefully, the chef can turn things around by tweaking some recipes and staying on top of what leaves the kitchen to make sure it's of the highest quality. Then,...
Read moreThe absolute worse. Will NEVER order or enter this establishment again. After putting a $120 order in via GrubHub, I receive an email notification of a change to my order and refund of an item. I attempted to contact the restaurant directly to sub the item vs. receiving a refund. I in turn was blindsided by an incredibly rude and disrespectful rep who came off accusatory, annoyed and completely bothered by my call. She literally scoffed at my request then went on to advise me that she had already spoken with the driver and explained that the item requested (online for their website) is not available and/or offered as there is no such thing as âvegetarian sushiâ. FYI - the item in question is listed under sushi entrees as a vegetarian sushi combo- lunch. We assumed these were vegetarian rolls (avocado roll, cucumber roll, etc). I explained that I was not sure whom the rep had spoken to but that I was not calling from Grub Hub; that I was the customer who actually placed the order. I asked that she âcorrect her toneâ and was then hung up on. Attempted to call back assuming that was done in error and of course the call then went to voicemail. Unfortunately I was stuck with this delivery, that we obviously trashed, and stuck with the bill. Not trusting a restaurant that will hang up on their customers, ignore the follow up call and then drop off the...
Read moreWhat started as a fun experience for the whole family quickly went downhill after my daughter got burned with scalding hot chicken.
We sat at the hibachi and were quickly greeted by friendly waitresses. They brought the soup and salad and we also ordered some sushi.
Soon after, the hibachi chef arrived and gave a pleasing show to everyone. My daughter especially loved the âhuge fire explosionâ. We were all having a great time. After the meat was cooked, the hibachi chef started plating it for everyone. As the hibachi chef went to plate the chicken for my daughter, he placed it too quickly before my daughter could move her arms and the chicken was placed directly on my daughters forearm. The chicken was scalding hot - straight from the grill - still with the hot oil and she got burned.
This was extremely upsetting for my daughter who was having a good time. We had to do our best to help her arm feel better. All we could do was just put it in water. The hibachi chef apologized and said that she had to be careful. Seriously?
The wait staff didnât seem interested in helping either. We quickly tried to eat our food and leave because we all found the experience unsettling.
The food was decent. Typical hibachi fare. The chicken was dry and not the best.
We ended paying just over $80 for 3 people and didnât have good experience.
We wonât...
