Sumo Sushi Express — Restaurant in Virginia

We got their take out sushi. Since we didn’t order ahead of time they made it fresh. They took a minute to make it, but I’m glad they let us wait inside. We got sushi combo 2 and 3, another sushi roll, a couple pieces of sushi, and drinks.

The inside isn’t much to look at however they do have some appetizing sushi photos hanging on the walls. They also have drinks in a fridge and also at the front. We got two jasmine flavored green teas.

Sushi itself is pretty good for the price. Their California roll is ok, and the smoked salmon tasted decent. The two pieces of nigiri (raw fish on top of rice) were yummy. I especially enjoyed the ikura (fish egg) sushi piece.

Canned tea that we got there (which is imported from Singapore) was surprisingly tasty. The dumplings that came with the sushi were underwhelming, and the ginger was too spicy. Overall a nice place for takeout sushi which has some nice...

This is the best sushi my wife and I have had since moving to Richmond. We moved from NOVA, where there are several spots, but this place is legit. Dumplings are top 2 we ever had, and every roll we tried was unbelievable. Richmond roll....OMG....when I took 1st bite I told my wife it tastes like fruit.....it was unbelievably good. We got too much to finish...put the rest in fridge and ate almost 24 hrs later and it was like we just ordered fresh. They take their time to make your dishes....fresh...all of them. If you are in Richmond or just passing thru or visiting, you must try this place. Family owned and very respectful and helpful people. I will eat here once a week at least. Thank you to the owners.....you guys are great. If I could give more than 5 stars I would....6...7....10 stars.....Its seriously...

Quality sush. This is no store bought sushi. You can taste the freshness. You should go in understanding fresh made sushi can take time. I went in skeptical and decided to order a roll to taste test myself & it didn't take long since no orders were ahead of me. I immediately decided to order one of the larger combos to take home to family. Yes they informed me approximately 20 minutes, done in 15. They were 2 working and I was there observing for a while. They were working hard & as fast as humanly possible without sacrificing attention to detail. I will be repeat customer & won't mind waiting or ordering ahead. I wish they had a website but due to there customer flow, they really don't need it. Also props for accuracy on menu. When it is imitation crab you should list it & they do. They all do it but rarely...
