Atmosphere - larger inside than I expected, with both a dining and bar area (12-seat bar, 8 high tops). Wasn't especially crowded, but I found it hard to find a clean seat at the bar as there were old glasses, placements, napkins, etc scattered about - bartender clearly recognized the issue, as he apologized for it when I sat down (how 'bout keeping your area clean rather than apologizing!?!) - I should add that this didn't look like just one large group that recently left, as the stuff was scattered throughout the length of the bar with the occasional empty place in between the debris. A further detractor - one high top was occupied by a very loud group of 30-somethings that were dropping f-bombs continuously...something you'd never find tolerated at Capital Grille.
Burger - was juicy, flavorful and cooked to the temperature I'd asked for. Liked the mushroom topping (quite special). Fries were very good. Not sure what to make of the bun, but it was better than it looked. They do have steaks and I asked about them - didn't sound like Capital Grille knock-offs, as they weren't dry-aged and came with a different topping set.
Booze - again, some work needed here. Four draft selections (e.g., Port City Pilsner) at $11 a pour?!? That's way off the mark for the rest of the area - maybe Capital Grille can charge those prices but Capital Burger can't. Maybe try a Burger & Beer special for $28 - that would be a slightly better deal. Do have some nice $90 bottles of wine (Groth, Leviathan), though not sure how many of them they sell as this is more a burger joint than a steakhouse.
Would I return? Yeah, probably. But this wouldn't be on the podium for a burger medal in Reston Town Center as there are several other establishments I'd...
Read moreFirst thing, most expensive burger I've ever had. However I will say it was very close to worth it! Lol. Burger was amazing (got the bacon cheeseburger, had to do it) and it was enormous & cooked perfectly. If you got the fries & the side salad in the meal, that's probably gets you there w/ being worth it. You do have to choose one side. Note that I had a burger craving so didn't even look at anything else on the menu, but there apeared to be a lot of other options. One little issue that I will point out was that my water was served room temperature w/ no ice. Could be the waiter missed that, or they are trying to be more European? My ice tea came out with ice so that made up for it. I also got the deviled eggs appetizer which was also delicious, came out with bacon - win! I will point out the bacon was also served at room temp,.. that may have been how that app is served, don't know. It was still really good. Note this a sit down restaurant w/ waiters (didn't know that when I walked in), so set aside some time, it's not a flash pan & counter serve burger place like most others. The bench seating was a little soft, when I sat down I shrunk below the table a bit. I scooched up and it worked. If you lean back you will disappear in the cushion. Lol. That said, bottom line, if you have a hankering for a great gourmet level burger, have some time, and don't mind it being a little on the pricey side this is the place, super amazing burger lunch - better than those counter serve pop-up burger joints by far. I...
Read moreChoosing The Capital Burger for a business luncheon was the right choice. It was the first visit for both myself and my guest. Shortly after the hostess seated us at our table, we were greeted by our server, Danielle, who was thoroughly delightful and professional. She answered our questions regarding recipes, ingredients, and cooking methods. She also cleared the table between courses and efficiently handled the payment.
The food was delicious, and the atmosphere contributed to a mutual exchange of valuable information flowing both ways between me and my guest. All food ingredients were fresh and flavorful. Especially unique were the complimentary, exceptionally flavorful, large gherkin pickle slices as an appetizer. My burger arrived cooked to order, juicy, served on a sesame hamburger roll with leaf lettuce, tomato slice, and onion slice. My lunch companion savored the taste of his Southern-Style Fried Chicken Sandwich. Both of our entrees came with remarkably delicious fresh-cut fries seasoned with sea salt. Plating presentation was artfully done. I enjoyed a perfectly balanced lemonade with just a hint of mint and sweetness.
The furnishings, tables, and chairs have substantial weight, and earth tones are throughout the interior architecture, with subdued lighting and a quiet atmosphere favorable for conversation. Tableware is hefty (glasses, dishes, flatware, and linen napkins), characteristic of steak houses. Upon leaving the restaurant, my guest suggested we meet at TCB for our next meeting in a...
