In the last few years, I have begun to travel more for work and play. We've stayed at several SPG locations and Westin's in particular and I love their beds and the hotels are always nice and worth the rates I've paid.. So, when I needed to travel to DC area for work, instead of choosing another (closer to the office) company preferred hotel, where everyone else was staying, I chose the Westin Reston. I was truly disappointed. However, I want to give credit where credit is due so, I will do that first. the beds, sheets, pillows are great as per usual. thank goodness. No matter what hotel I"m at, I never sleep good, unless I"m at an SPG property! :) So thankful they have these wonderful beds. And whenever I encountered the staff at this site, they were friendly and accommodating. The showers are very nice and comforting with the dual heads. I like that the closet is in it's separate location with a door. Unfortunately, on to the rest... The room was good size, but felt stuffy and the carpet seemed worn. Not much counter space, and the lighting was very dim in all rooms . I"m not usually a complainer when I travel. I chose to deal with the majority of the issues I encountered (plus I didn't have time to complain, or mess with having to work these issues out or switch rooms or hotels). I immediately changed the thermostat to 65, as low as it would go. No matter what it showed, I don't believe it ever got below 73-75 in the room. It felt stuffy the entire stay. And the air comes out from one corner very lightly, so the other side of the room is always even warmer than the side with the vent. It's summer so that is not comfortable! And I was at the end of a hallway. I would get off the elevator, and it would be very cool if not chilly, and then the closer to my room I got, the warmer and stuffier it got. I also had no shampoo or conditioner in the bath room. I chose the green choice and literally not one person ever came to my room except to deliver the tea I had to request each night. I don't need clean towels every day. I don't need my bed made, or shower cleaned every day, but I do need my trash emptied and maybe a new soap and tea/sugar, coffe/tea cups???!!!. I had to call down every night for tea and sugar to be brought up. And again my trash never emptied. And, nothing was replenished. I get the green choice option, but a maid can still attend to your room for comfort purposes. I had to ask for shampoo and conditioner two days in a row. My hair dryer vents were so clogged, no air came out. I stood in the bathroom for 5-10 minutes one day trying to clean it out. I saw on other reviews about a restaurant? Is there a restaurant??? If so I never saw or it or heard about it. the room service menu is limited and very expensive. I went without breakfast every day. Was my stay fine, yes. However, for the published rate for this room/hotel, and the fact that I'm an SPG rewards member, I was very disappointed. I also just looked at the copy of my bill that was emailed to me upon check out. I drank a water that was on the desk that had a card underneath it that clearly stated compliments Starwood preferred guest. It was a large bottle of Aquafina. the water next to it was a Nestle pure water that said $5.00. I chose the free one where the card was(I am a member of the rewards program) and now I"ve been charged $5.00 for water which is ridiculous. Did the maid mess it up when setting it out? I"m not sure. I think I'm just getting more frustrated as I type, so I'll end my review. Definitely NOT what I expected for the price, location, name brand hotel. I'm also supposed to get extra points per the green choice, and it's supposed to be negotiated in our company rate that we get extra points with our preferred rate. I hope that is the case, otherwise, that would be another...
Read moreAs a life-time Platinum member, I’ve traveled to well over 125 countries, thousands of cities, staying at hundreds of hotels. The Westin at Reston Heights ranks highly among stiff hotel competition across the Washington/Northern Virginia landscape. What makes the Westin Reston Heights such a formable hospitality force? Its crackerjack staff, well-appointed rooms, delectable edibles, and quiet/calming atmosphere.
The responsiveness and overall professionalism of the Front Desk staff remains the strength of this hotel. A venerable hotelier powerhouse, the Front Desk team in unison calls each guest by name, skillfully directing guests to updated and appealing outlets. When an urgent piece of correspondence arrived, almost on cue Associate Ivan stopped me in full stride, ensuring I had all paperwork needed before attending high-level negotiations. Calling the hotel later in the day, Associate Tewfik recognized my voice, called me by name, and adeptly made needed preparations before I returned. In a hotel world that seems to pride itself on quickly cycling guests through without attending to individual client needs and details, the Westin Reston Heights is a beacon of unmatched hospitality – raising international customer service standards, to another level. Customer service renaissance doesn’t happen by accident. The main drivers of this high-flying team? Assistant Front Office Manager Lexy and Front Desk Supervisor Kasia, both pros play active roles in providing unparalleled customer service to scores of road warriors. Kasia has empowered the Front Desk team with forward leaning and can-do customer service attitudes. Requests that normally cripple other Front Desk teams, are routinely addressed with aplomb by the Westin Reston Heights crew. If your party is for two or two hundred, recommend staying here.
The corresponding updated rooms and meeting spaces across the hotel are equally impressive. Clean and spacious, my room had a lovely view, and well maintained by Associate Carmen. The gym and pool were both easily accessible, enticing me to go more regularly – working-off the great meals, accompanied by delicious Virginia wines. Speaking of the edibles, Dining Room Manager Mel provided excellent food/beverage pairings – knowledgeable about the current culinary happenings, every meal offered something different from the humdrum. Wait Service teammates, Peter and David, were attentive and quick, facilitating hot and tasty edibles.
Lastly, the overall vibe of the hotel allowed for a goodnight’s sleep, something desperately needed after travelling for a couple of days enroute Washington. After enjoying a run through the Jacuzzi and lap pool, devouring a Barramundi-like white fish (while sipping on some of Virginia’s finest wine), I fell into the Heavenly Bed, sleeping a full eight hours.
Thank you so much Westin Reston Heights for being a hospitality beacon, offering a higher standard of customer service, setting an aspirational service benchmark for...
Read moreFirst, I want to say that Jacqueline is simply amazing! If I could give Jacqueline 10 stars, I would! She checked me, and my husband in for our stay from September 9, 2025 - September 14, 2025. We were in town on business, and for the Dulles Day Special Olympics Plane Pull. Jacqueline made the check-in process so easy, and very pleasant as she was just so personable, and had the sweetest smile. She was even briefly chatting with us on the elevator at one point, and it was a nice conversation. She really made the beginning of our stay enjoyable, and enjoyable throughout our stay. I even witnessed her giving some suggestions for a place for a man to run that was talking about being a little sore from a long run just in case he wanted a nice place for a run while here on his stay. Needless to say, that is going above, and beyond. We stay at hotels all the time throughout the US for business travel, family visits, and US Naval Football games, but so far this has been the best experience yet for us. I wish more hotels had employees like Jacqueline as she is simply the best! Pretty much most all the employees at the front desk are nice, and greet you when you come, and go except for a couple of employees. There is a man that was at the check-in desk on a few days that was super nice as well but I did not get his name. Second, I want to give a shout out to Anisa as well because every time we came, and went she greeted us so nicely, and she was the lady who checked us out on the day we were leaving. She was just so pleasant, and very personable to not only us but others that I heard her checking in. I really can't say enough about Jacqueline, and Anisa except BRAVO ladies for being the first interaction for guests at this hotel. You both simply make the initial experience, and stay a pleasure! Third, our room was nice. We were upgraded being that we are Platinum Elite Members, and our room had a nice smell, the bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. The only negative was our AC wasn't that cool, but we did not call to have someone come look at the room because by the time we got back to our room it was late in the evening. We did not eat at the restaurant this stay because our last stay at this hotel in late January the food in the restaurant was not to our liking so we opted to eat elsewhere as there are a lot of great places to...
