The Perch is the outdoor area next to the Starr Hill Brewery. There is a putt putt course, a dog park and two food trucks with pricey food options. Come on Perch - it’s food trucks. Why are the street tacos (without chips) $15 and the Jamaican chicken $20? You really missed the mark on what a food truck is about.
The outdoor bar in the food truck area also seems oddly placed since there is a brewery there. Finding the elevators that take you upstairs to this whole area is a little mystery too. Also, you have to pay for parking. Wegmans validates up to two hours. Hey Perch - Why not do something too?
It has a very nicely maintained grassy area but you can’t bring your food and drinks from the brewery there. It would be nice to be a little farther away from the loud music sometimes so you can hear your friends next to you talking.
The brewery has live music often, a huge screen for what would be a great movie night, and good beer and cider on tap. The bar food (hamburgers, hotdogs, fries, etc.) are decently priced. But I think they are just collocated - and not actually part of the Perch bc of the food and drink restrictions from the brewery.
All in all, the Brewery gets most of the action but the Perch has potential if they could get their price point right on the food and offer perhaps more modern games in the common areas (they have some bocce ball lanes, you’re welcome grandpa).
Next year…at the annual Perchfest, how about not having competing music between a DJ in the Perch area and a live band at the Brewery. That was weird. And, if you are going to advertise family fun activities, maybe you should actually have something other than corn hole and crayons.
I don’t know why this feels like I am slamming them in this review bc the area is nice & relaxing but probably bc of all the reasons I said above. Hopefully you can make some changes based on this review to make it even better....

Read moreWonderful idea, terrible execution. Location is beautiful, food is pretty close to inedible & expensive, very few drink options. Most importantly - what the effing frick is wrong with the psycho bartender with a beard & wearing a tye-dye shirt last night? I went up to the bar where two of my friends were getting drinks. I was only talking to them and didn’t request a drink or interact with the bartender at all, but he started to aggressively reprimand me for “cutting the line” angrily asking “DID YOU JUST COME FROM THE BACK OF THE LINE? GO BACK!!!” I realized he thought I was skipping the line, which he has absolutely no reason to believe - but even if I WAS doing that is it really that serious? I said I wasn’t trying to get a drink several times and he just kept going. It was pretty embarrassing & unwarranted. All of my friends and a couple strangers were stunned and asked if I wanted a drink bc they felt bad for me. If this man has ever received a tip in his life I hope he uses it towards therapy, where he can discuss the likely feelings of worthlessness that lead him to crave authority & dominance to the extent that he’ll yell at random women about a line.
If you come to this location, bring a large bag with snacks...
