We've been going to Connie's Cafe almost since she opened about 7 years ago and still go regularly. Her prices are great compared to pretty much any establishment, whether it's a chain or small business. The food is great, she does a regular breakfast and lunch menu with special dinners to go once or twice a week. Connie herself is a fair and kind person who doesn't suffer idiots. She will tell you how it is, but she will bend over backwards for people.
Also, there are a couple one star reviews from a few days ago and my husband and I were in the restaurant when they called. Anyone eating that day can attest to Connie trying to amend the situation, but who on earth would expect a free meal when the syrup, ranch, and utensils were forgotten?!? Not to mention if you're ordering from a delivery food service, how do you blame the restaurant for cold food? Connie asked what she could do to fix things, like a discount on their next meal or something actually reasonable, but these people only wanted free food. She did eventually hang up on them when they started threatening to leave bad reviews if she didn't comp the food, and we and about 8 other patrons couldn't believe she had been so patient with them as long as she had been. The reviews also complained about her saying that she was busy, but she actually was: the inside and her outside patio were completely full and mobile orders were consistently coming in.
Internet reviews are very one sided and with no ability for other customers to respond or dislike things, it's super easy for awful people to leave exaggerated and...
Read moreWent there for the first time after reading great reviews. Ordered their chicken sandwich for us both and enjoyed the ample portions, me with a side salad, my wife had the potato salad. I paid the bill with my debit card and left a cash tip happily looking forward to the next visit. Two day later in reviewing my credit card account I noticed the owner Connie had charged an extra $4.00 to the actual cost. (I keep all receipts until charges are verified) I Upon noticing the above I took my receipt and credit card info and contacted Connie outside the cafe away from any other customer in an attempt to not cause an undue scene. I explained the $4.00 OVERAGE on my bill and asked her how that had happened. She did not have any good reason, but did suggest it must have been the tip I left. I reminded her that wasn't true as I had left a cash tip. After showing and explaining to her a couple of times the correct amount I finally got what was due me. The incident ended with her RUDELY slamming her front door shut and muttering she didn't need an extra $4.00 to stay in business, not offering any apologize or good reasons for charging too much. Another thing I noticed was she requested our pin number when she processed out credit card. That is not a good policy on her part or for a customer to allow. BEWÀRE.. bad/shoddy business practices and extremely...
Read moreMy husband and I have lived in Oceanside a long time. I googled diners near me and this was one of the ones that came up along with some big name ones. We have always been proponents of small businesses so thought we'd give it a try. All I can say is WOW! It's small inside with about 6 tables, a couple tables in front but they also have a nice back patio seating area. I ordered a BLT and salad. The bacon was perfect....nice a crispy, not flabby. The toasted sourdough was perfect. The lettuce for the salad was fresh romaine and cut nicely so you could actually get it in your mouth. The whole plate was made with care. My husband had the chef salad. His was on a large plate with the same nicely cut romaine with lots of good lean ham and lots of other goodies on top. We will definitely be going back. I saw some of the breakfast food coming out and all I can say is YUM. Good prices too.Thank you Connie.🤗 I forgot to take the pictures before we...
