I highly encourage anyone considering going to here read all the way through this. Whether you're a new customer or a returning one.
There are a few pieces that connect to give this review the stars I have. In the past few years, this place has been great. No issues. Our most recent experience however, had some very big issues.
It started when my dad inquired about the Al Diabla burrito's cost and ingredients, and instead of getting a straight answer, was told it looked like the photo. The photo in question had what looked like a brown sauce on top, so he asked if it was mole. The lady he was talking to said it was a very spicy chile sauce and eventually talked him out of trying it and recommended the Ranchero Burrito.
He expressed that he was considering the shrimp burrito and she indicated that they could make a shrimp ranchero burrito, and he decided to try that.
I ordered the Milanesa Torta and I did technically get one. I say it that way because it was lacking a lot of the ingredients that are listed for it on the menu. It did not have any beans, lettuce, or mayo/sauce, and the meat itself was seemingly unseasoned and just deep fried. There was a bit of avocado, tomato, and onion on it, but just barely.
My dad's food however, was a much bigger issue. He didn't receive a burrito of any kind. He got what appeared to be some kind of shrimp plate with an extremely watery and slightly red sauce and extremely salty beans and a small salad as the sides. He did also get 2 tortillas, but they became rock hard as they cooled to room temperature.
The third issue was how much we were charged.
Given that these 2 items were all we ordered, the total should have been somewhere between 23-25 dollars after tax. We were charged 32 and were not given a reciept at time of purchase. We found that out after getting home and checking the bank account due to having discovered everything we did about the food.
It was a to go order, so we discovered the food issues after we got home and the place had already closed, so we couldn't got back in and make them aware of the issue.
I asked some people that I knew about thier experience to see if trying to go in tomorrow to talk to them would be worth it, and that led to me understanding to major things from thier experiences at least; 1)Every one of them has had similar bad experiences 2)Reporting the incident got them talked down to like the employees did nothing wrong and nothing was done to rectify the situation.
We did place the order around 6:20 p.m. and I am aware that they close at 7 p.m. I can understand the kitchen being out of some ingredients, or being unable to make certain menu items at that hour, but that should be communicated to the customer and does not explain or excuse being given a completely different item than was ordered (Plate instead of burrito) or being overcharged and not being given a reciept.
I am only giving the 2 stars that i have because of how good they've been historically.
Thank you for reading, and please take this if you intend to go here.
P.S. I have posted a review about this on Yelp as well with slightly different verbiage. This is slightly condensed, but hits all the...
Read moreIt was a lil loud outside, due to some city workers recycling some bottles.
The atmosphere was small, it's a small place, maybe fits 10 with people waiting. I waited in my car after ordering.
I ordered a machaca and ham burrito with guacamole and sour cream. As well as a separate machaca burrito for himself. I had been given a business card from a coworker, that had allowed me to get a free crispy taco, so I ordered one for my dad.
After ordering, Clerk- gentleman, said it would be about 10 minutes. I went out to wait in my car and enjoy the morning air. ((They're open early))
I looked at my phone to check the time, and only about 7 minutes passed by, so I got out of my car to head to the door.
The same gentleman was there, at the door, delivering my food to me. He even said he added one of each of their sauces so my dad could try it, and if I'd need anything else, napkins, etc((I didn't order a drink)).
Over all:: delicious food, may have to mix a lil bit of the light red sauce into the dark red, it's a lil liquidy. But that helps the overall flavor of the darker red sauce. 9/10. The crispy taco for dad had cilantro on it, and I didn't know that. He's one of those, "it tastes like soap". Regardless, I will definitely be stopping by again.
And, they also label the burritos. No mixups once I...
