Oscar's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Vista

Inconsistent quality! ... sometimes too salty sometimes overcooked, other times undercooked and the salsa is always watery with little flavor. Service is what you would expect - not great and not bad considering it's a fast food mexican joint. If the food was consistent quality and the salsa wasn't colored water it would be an easy 4 stars. I still prefer Joe's on melrose because they always have fantastic salsa and the food has remained high quality over the years. Wish I could say the same for Oscar's. Today was a perfect example, I ordered a breakfast burrito with avocado. Potatoes were not fully cooked, eggs had soo much salt it was overwhelming the rest of the flavor and the salsa thrown in the bag was red water with some seeds floating around in it. When I asked about the salsa being watery the lady looked at me and laughed. This place has the potential to be great, but until then I won't be coming back...

This is one of those amazing places that you may have driven past many times because it's set back from the road and looks hard to get into that, once you try it, you can never go past again without stopping and buying food! The dining area and parking are very limited but they have a very efficient drive-thru operation that is speedy and well-designed.

One of the items you can find here and not too many other places is Milanesas! They are very good here, and you can get them either as a plated entre combination dinner or also as a burrito. They're very good, so don't miss them!

Also, if you're a fan of Mexican picked carrot slices, be sure to try the ones here. They're delicious and not insanely hot, so they are perfect for me and my wife.

Don't just drive by this place the next time you're in Vista - make a point of going there and enjoying some really terrific Mexican food....

I usually never write reviews but lets get real here. Vista has some of the best Mexican food in all of San Diego. Oscar's is open 24hours they are always cleaning and they have amazing food. Lets start with the salsa. Always fresh at the salsa bar, my favorite is their salsa verde. They also have a very good roasted red salsa. Their pollo asado is the best I have ever had. It is 98% of the time white chicken breast meat. The best hands down.. Their prices are insanely cheap for what you get. I got two cheese enchiladas and a pollo asado tostada for $8 including tax.
