Tandoori Kabab — Restaurant in Voorhees Township

I visited December 27, 2023. This was the only non-fastfood place open after 10PM, so I was curious to try.

I've been to almost every other Indian/Pakistani restaurant in the area, so it seemed fair to give this a chance, despite recent reviews not being so great.

I ordered the Butter Chicken and Plain Naan for takeout (10-15min), totaling $15. Honestly, the price is really good; cheaper than most places, here.

I was surprised the food proved the reviews wrong. The butter chicken feels like a lot of curry. At least 2 portions for me, but I don't eat very large meals. It wasn't as oily as compared to Amma's. There is a little, but c'mon it's butter chicken. It was definitely rich and had a velvety texture while also being seasoned extremely well. There was even a little bit of slow heat from the kashmir pepper 🌶. So people who avoid spice, this may impact you as I'm very accustom to hotter seasoning.

The Naan was a perfect compliment as it helped cut the richness. It's a large piece too, despite 1 piece per order. It was perfectly cooked, not burnt or anything even on the underside.

The one downside for this price is they don't give complementary basmati rice. Plan for that if you eat in person, or make your own at home if getting takeout.

Atmosphere.. I can't judge much since I only got takeout, but the front area seemed clean and well lit.

Horrible experience. Called up at 6:30pm on last Friday. Ordered chargha among other things. I was told that chargha will take around an hour so I should come to pick up at 7:30pm. I said I was fine with it. I obliged and reached at 7:45pm, giving 15 mins of grace period.

Well, turns out that the order never reached the kitchen crew. The lady who took the order put the blame on the newly installed machine. i followed what she was doing with other orders and I realized that if manually one doesn't press the button, the order will not be printed. In other words, it's not the machine at fault, but the person using it.

She told me to wait so they can prepare the food. Very good. There was a halal grocery at the other end of the plaza and i went there for some shopping and came back at 8:10pm asking for my order. I placed the original order at 6:30pm, so I should get it by then. But the lady this time blamed it on the chargha telling me that it takes time. No ma'am, if the original order had been handed over to the kitchen crew correctly, i would have been done with my dinner by that time. Own up when you mess up, don't cover up. Kept lying to me that the machine did not work, chargha takes time - chargha does not take 2 hrs!! Absolutely...

I used to cater from here for events and have recently stopped because of the lack of professionalism. Our order for over $300 was wrong twice, the manager we spoke to would take our orders and then when we would go to pick up food its almost as if the kitchen staff and workers had no idea what we were talking about when we would come in. Most recently I placed a large order, when I received it we were missing an entire tray of beef kebabs and salad that we already paid for. Even after messaging and calling the manager, he refused to give us a refund and insisted that we forgot to order even though we have receipts of the same order we have gotten every single time we order from here. He got very rude and loud after I kept trying to explain to him that we had food missing from an order we paid for and that we kept having issues with them even the last time, and instead he kept trying to say we ordered something different last time or we messed up even though we keep receipts of everything. I hate to leave such a review on a halal establishment, but if anyone is planning on using this restaurant for catering I would save yourself the headache. We have not received a refund for our missing food, and will no longer be purchasing from them...
