Chapter 11 — Restaurant in Waco

After moving to Waco to be with my father, I am from The Bay Area in Cali for 28 years and lived in Connecticut/NYC for 15 years, this place is one that is clearly not a chic NYC lounge and that is evidenced when you drive up. With that said, it shouldn’t be a shock to those who are giving it low stars due to it being “a dive bar”.... I’ve learned a few things - “dive bars” are the places that inhabit ‘regulars’ which keeps it far safer and FRIENDLIER than any tres chic bar/lounge/club I’ve beeN to. Perhaps it’s an age you hit where that is the atmosphere that you can appreciate. I know I do. Then again, the south continues to impress me with just down to earth, “I am who I am, take it or leave it” kind of people. In my early 20’s, I’m sure I would have judged it harshly. But I’m a far different person now and quite frankly, a heck of a lot more content with myself which breeds positive vibes and FAR less ‘off the cuff’ judgements because they are 98-% of the time completely unfounded and small minded. So thumbs up! If you like a friendly staff and even friendlier regulars, pool, live music, a huge outdoor area and great drinks, you’ve found what you’re looking for. Just like people say it's a dark little dive bar. It's an old building and it smells old. There was not a lot of people when we went, nobody really looked up from their phones.
