El MAR SEAFOOD GRILL AND BAR — Restaurant in Waco

This was mine and my husband’s first time dining here and it was a horrible experience!! We’re from a small town about 40 minutes from Waco and we had plans with our sons to dine at Texas Roadhouse but it was an hour and thirty minute wait. So one of my son’s decided to dine at “El Mar” because he has dine there before and had a good experience…. mind you that was two years ago. From our first order of drinks and appetizers we had a long wait for our drinks. When the rest of our party arrived, we placed our order. While we were eating my husband and one of my son’s drink a little faster than most of us and I would call our waitress over and place an order for two more drinks. My husband was drinking Corona in a bottle and my son was drinking a draft…. we literally had to wait like 15 to 20 minutes for the drinks. The waitress was getting upset because my son kept stopping her to ask “where is his drink!!” She was getting upset which is no excuse because that is her job!! No one was getting rude with her or anything like that!! Also while we were eating my husband called over the two gentleman that were singing to request songs. We were on our 7th request and one of the waitresses came and told one of the gentleman that they needed to move around the restaurant. My son lost his best friend 9 months ago and came to find out the last time my son dined there was with that best friend…. so he was in bis feelings and he requested all of their favorite songs. So when they asked to gentlemen to move around, my son was upset!! We paid for their services which was $140 dollars and asked for the check so we can leave!! The only person out of our party of 5 that ate their food was my husband. The food was horrible and so bland!! We will NEVER step a foot in that restaurant again!! It was a waste of...

Red snapper was waaaay over cooked or just old and rubbery. Rice was tasteless and instant. Beer was flat, couldn't drink it. Grilled vegetables were raw and cold (not grilled). Shrimp was overcooked to the point you could not chew it. Seafood and no lemons, just no juice limes. Ask for salad dressing. Said only had ranch.Turns out that was a lie. They they say there was italian dressing on the salad already, there was not! She said all they have is ranch. When we were asked how it was, they didn't care that it wasn't good. The main guy said you can't please everyone. When it comes to food, we are easy to please. It's not a matter of taste. It was bad food. I've never been told it was my fault for not liking the food. Not one attempt to make it right, redo the food or anything. After reading the reviews, which I should have done first, I see he blames a lot of folks for bad taste buds. So if you feel like throwing money away. Just put it in your toilet. It's not worth the drive, nor the stomach...

Well It was lunch time and I was close to this restaurant I had never been to ElMAR seafood grill. So upon entering I went to wash my hands ,the restroom appeared very clean ,as I entered the restaurant area it appeared very clean, Mexican music was playing I was seated and was asked what I wanted to drink ,I replied tea with lemon .waitress returned with a basket of condiments and the tea, she took my order ,which was fried Shrimp the tea was sent back due to tasting bitter so then I requested lemon water .The waitress exchanged the drink with an apology and a smile . She returned with the food order ,it was a very acctractive plate fried Shrimp ,seasoned fries,a salad and rice and a slice of garlic toast . The food tasted great ,best food I had from any previous restraunt in the last 9 or 10 months. My complements go out to the cook and the waitress. Thank you for a great dining experience. I recommend this restraint to anyone who don't mind the music I give 5 stars to ELMAR...
