The service was astonishingly poor. I’m in town for only a few weeks before I leave overseas again for college, and thought it would be nice to take my mom out for lunch. My mom and I found a perfect time in her 9-5 job to take her lunch break so we can eat out. Once I arrived to Wako roll, I went to the kiosk at the front to order for me and my mom. You would think that if anything, the kiosk is in place to make ordering more efficient and easy for the workers, and make it less daunting for customers when they want to place their order…but somehow the server’s attitude towards me ensured me that I was wrong. Once I selected my food items, it took me to a screen that requested I input my ‘tent’ number, which I was about to do so, but the kiosk then immediately changed its screen to the payment option, which I did immediately. I got a table number and sat down, thinking nothing of the kiosk mishap because 1. the restaurant was empty 2. I was the only person seated, without their food 3. I followed each step in which the kiosk directed me towards. As I waited for my mom and the food to arrive, the server (with an AirPod in) disregards any politeness towards me and instead meets me with ‘Did you order this bimbibap’ in a accusatory and rude ton. “Yes” I said…”Well next time make SURE you put your tent number in so WE KNOW what table you’re at.” I was left in disbelief, but managed to explain that the kiosk actually skipped over that screen and right into the payment screen. I thought, surely she would understand as it was a problem with their own kiosk. I was wrong again, in a condescending tone she began to lecture me, “STILL, let us know so we KNOW where you are seated.” meanwhile I’m the only customer without their food in their practicality empty restaurant…. she left and my mom arrives, but at that point I am disturbed by the behavior and lose my appetite. My mom felt the glares from the manager and the server as they began to chuckle and say they “don’t care” from behind the counter. I wanted to continue to try to have a peaceful lunch with my mom, as we waited all week to find time to do so, but then my mom noticed that they served her the wrong food item, so I told her I would let the server know. I go up to the counter and immediately the manager and the server are smirking in a what now? manner. I simply say that they served my mom the wrong food item…I was then again met with the same condescending tone from the server, “we are actually out of that…I just didn’t tell you cause I forgot.” It seemed as though she was not apologetic, but rather she felt that her ‘forgetfulness’ is not at fault here…that’s when I thought the attitude and entitlement was just ridiculous at this point. I went back to the table to my mom, who had seen how condescending they were acting towards me and we agreed we didn’t feel comfortable eating the food, and also the fact that it wasn’t what my mom ordered. I went back to the counter and told the manager, (which had the same attitude as the server), “we cannot eat here because the attitude from the get go from the server was ridiculous, and was just degrading overall” I noticed that the server was only smirking and rolling her eyes, as I expressed my frustration to the manager, which also didn’t seem to care. Luckily, I got my refund, but am still shocked by how disgusting the service was towards my mom and I. You expect me to excuse your ‘forgetfulness’ for messing up my mom’s order, and yet expect ME to put up with your condescending lecture and degrading behavior towards me about your own kiosk not...
Read moreMy bestfriend went into the restaurant last night about 8pm for her brother-in-laws birthday with their parents/grandparents. I'm posting this for her as she's non-confrontational. It's very frustrating to hear about her experience there. Their grandparents are old and and fragile and they decided to sit at the nearest table as they can't walk very far. Once everyone decided to sit at the big table near the ordering area, an employee (Hispanic girl with long nails) came up to them saying they couldn't sit there because it was for "employees only". My friend asked if she joking as there was no sign anywhere on the table. The employee rudely stated she was not joking as it's for "employees only". So, she left them with their grandparents having to move across the room to the other large table. Not only was that frustrating to hear, but that same employee delivered their food with her long nails not covered and that seems unsanitary if you ask me. If you work at any food business, employees delivering food should NOT have long nails, and if so PLEASE wear gloves. Also, my friend was curious if they can cook the salmon in her sushi and the same rude employee yelled from the back that they could not. Her tone and demeanor made their experience terrible. This is so frustrating to know that the employee MADE an elderly couple who could barely walk, get up and move across room. They chose that table for a reason. If there is an employee only table, then there should be A SIGN. My best friend goes there often as she loves Wako Roll, but that employee was out of line for her actions.
If that were my grandparents I would have NOT moved or I would have left, especially as she was being rude. The employee could have left it slide as there was no sign. I know damn well she would have acted like a fool if that were her parents or grandparents. Have some...
Read moreI ordered the Honeymoon roll, Kimchi fried rice, 3pc egg rolls, and #6 Galbi jeongsik, total ~$52, all To-Go. I had a couple of issues with the order:
The cashier had reallyyyy long, fake nails and had no gloves on. I wouldn't be worried about this any other time, but we're in a pandemic and this seems pretty unsanitary.
My husband ordered the #6 Galbi jeongsik, and even pointed to it on the menu. But when the order came out, the Galbi order was missing from the bag. I asked about it and I was given a box with only short ribs, no other banchan. The menu specifically stated it comes with many sides and cost ~$15. I asked the cashier about it and she said I was only charged for ribs unless we specifically ask for sides. It doesn't say that on the menu where we pointed. My husband was walking out the door at this point so I dropped it and left.
Once we got home and started eating, no one seemed happy with the taste of the dishes. The honeymoon roll had smoked salmon in it. This roll wasn't listed on the text menu, only the picture menu with no list of ingredients. My step-son hates smoked salmon, so I switched off with him. Everyone tried the Galbi and agreed it was waaayyy too chewy. It doesn't seem like they marinate these long enough.
I went back to look at the receipt afterwards to see what exactly we were charged for, but the one receipt they gave me didn't have an itemized list. The other receipt on the bag was halfway cut-off, so I couldn't tell what costs were associated with what.
Pros:
The kimchi fried rice was pretty big and tasty. I like smoked salmon so the roll was fine for me. Just wish it was listed on the text menu.
Overall we were disappointed with the quality of the dishes for...
