My mother and I came to fish city grill our first time today. We ordered a half a dozen oysters. I got a cocktail, the flounder special and she ordered the chili shrimp tacos. Our server Jonathan said that we would definitely like the selections and that the chili shrimp tacos were spicy but not spicy at first. That they were more of a slow burn spice. We were excited to eat it. We received the cocktail and the oysters. They were fine. We noticed that we’ve been sitting around, waiting for our entrées for a good while, and the rest of the restaurant is eating and almost finished with their entrees. So, my mother and I start to look at our server like hey where is our food? He prints out our ticket and says all right guys thanks for coming in. We looked at him and said, where is our food? Remember? It’s going to be spicy but it’s a slow burn?? He looked completely disheveled and we watched him go back to the kitchen (and more than likely ask them to cook our food quickly.) He then came back to our table blaming it all on the kitchen and told us that he “yelled at the appropriate people” and that our food would be on the way. Hungry and frustrated, we wait patiently for our food. The food was decent. He came over to our table and asked if we were “still loving everything.” There was not one single thing that we were loving about our lunch experience. As we are finishing our food, I kindly ask him to bring us our check whenever he had a moment. It would’ve been nice if he gave us half price on the oysters or maybe took a cocktail off of the charge or gave us a server error discount of some sort but no he didn’t do any of those things. He handed me the check after he ran the card without a pen for me to sign anything. I had to ask him for a pen and he responded with a strange and obscure joke about Harry Potter. I don’t read the Harry Potter books, I don’t watch the movies, so, I had no idea what he was referring to. Not a time to joke or be funny. It’s time to be somber and grovel for making us wait so incredibly long for our lunch. Maybe if he would stop talking about the nautical decor, how we need to take our leftovers and put them in omelettes and how my cocktail rim looks like lip liner from the late 90s and simply just take our food order and keep quiet, that maybe our experience would have been a lot different, in a more...
Read moreThe best restaurant experience my boyfriend and I have had EVER!!
We ordered the Valentine’s Day Menu options which was a STEAL for the quality and amount of food it offered. Our waitress was 100% accepting that her knowledge was not at the level she’d like it to be regarding the differences in oyster options but immediately brought the manager to our table to better explain it. I love that “I will find out for you” vibe. There were several people who came by our table and made sure everything was good. I also really appreciated the manager coming to my table when my boyfriend went to the RR because it’s always a bit awkward being alone at a table, but he kept me engaged in the restaurant experience by explaining the different menu options that were being written on the board. Every single bite we had was delicious and the amount of food on the plates was PERFECT. I have never had a 5 course meal for two for under $100. I highly recommend you take advantage of their V-Day menu that ends soon, but even if you don’t, I highly recommend you give this a try, seafood lover or not. I would have never tried trout in my life but I had a bite off my boyfriend’s plate and it was DELISH. I’d give this 10 stars if I could. The only criticism I have is that we were told our wait time was 40 minutes and because I was very determined to have a date night at Fish City Grill, I said I’d wait. It turned out to only be a 7 minute wait time. If it were any other scenario, I probably would have been deterred by that long wait time and left, not knowing it wouldn’t actually be that long I’d be waiting. However, I understand it’s new and they are still working out estimates and little things...
Read moreFirst time visitors, they give a sampler with oyster nachos and 4 tester soups of theirs to try. Gumbo, creamy jalapeño, clam chowder and bisque all 4 were delicious, my top to being creamy jalapeño and clam chowder which is absolutely crazy because I've never liked clam chowder. Creamy jalapeño soup is not even a tiny bit spicy but it is yummy.
I tried their chargrilled swordfish (highly recommend) and my husband had their tortilla crusted flounder. Not on the menu but was on their board that changes frequently. The cucumber martini is goodness paired with the fish.
Atmosphere was a chill. Our server Jonathan was friendly and did good until we got our food then he kept forgetting our order on drinks, our appetizer and asked us if we wanted a box to take leftovers just after we got our food and was just starting to eat. Unpleasant and rushed, I think he made about 10 extra unnecessary trips to our table from forgetting everything and not asking if we needed anything else before running along. I did order dessert which I had to catch the waiter to get before he ran off quickly. If it was busy we would of been more understanding.
Will go back, the food was enough to put the restaurant in our top 3 restaurants and hopefully if we get the same server the experience is...
