There's a very short (maybe 5') hispanic gentleman with a somewhat large, sharp nose that works there. I've felt uncomfortable every time I visited and he was there. The first incident, he was handling my coffee at the drive thru and he was somewhat rude and dismissive toward me. I just shrugged it off as a very typical encounter by someone who is uncomfortable dealing with people of color... Its an everyday occurence and something all color people are used to... No big deal...
But I visited Starbucks again today, and he again made me uncomfortable. I was having a conversation with the barista. He walked out into the work area (behind the counter), maybe just coming from off his break, and when he saw that the barista and I talking, he stopped in place, and shamelessly gawked at me, while clearly trying to see what it was the barista and I were talking about. He appeared to be listening to see if I was complaining about my order or maybe even starting trouble w/ the barista...
Normally, when you see employees having conversations with customers, you ignore it and keep moving, b/c its very typical to see employees have conversations with Starbucks customers. But he saw me and the barista talking, and stopped DEAD in his tracks and listened to see what our conversation was about. I promise you, he didn't stop to listen out of innocent curiosity... He stopped and listened as if he'd never seen a person of color having a normal conversation with a Starbucks barista before (she and I were talking about how espresso is made).
It was off-putting and I tried to ignore him and just talk directly to the barista as he stood there, gawking. Most people will say that I'm making too much of the situation but most people of average education level and intelligence understand that race most definitely shapes people's behaviors (as much as we don't want to admit). Knowing that, my story is not inconceivable at all. Those of you who are sensitive to race issues will know exactly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām a huge fan of Starbucks, but my recent experience here at this location(2815 S. Main and Rogers Rd.) really disappointed me. Now before I get any further into this review, I must say that I have never had a bad/disappointing customer service experience! Theyāre always nice, pleasant, and full of character! Anyway, I ordered two Venti Iced Peach Green Teas, plain and simple with cane sugar. One for me, and one for my daughter who was with me to also experience the disaster. After the transaction was completed, we got our drinks, we both took a few sips from them and they were delicious! We drove off to our next destination and when we got there, I just so happened to notice the sunlight pointing something out inside of my drink. At first glance, I was appalled and disgusted! Is that blood!? In an ice cube?! So my mind and stomach turned, but after taking pics of the objects floating around in my delicious drink, I realized it was a small piece of dragon fruit in my ice cube in my drink. The levels of disgusting are what upsets me about this. I know things happen, but this was just perfectly setup to disgust anyone! Iām now going to be more aware and observant of my iced drinks from any Starbucks... I guess I should say thank you for disgusting me by adding a tiny droplet of dragon fruit to my mostly clear tea and having my mind play tricks on me thinking that thereās blood in my drink! Sheesh! COVID...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDisappointing to say the least. Iāve been here twice and both times have been sub par, but today takes the cake. It is not a busy time, so the fact that it took 10 minutes in line should have clued me in to the terrible service I was about to receive. First I was handed the wrong drink by the nice, yet clueless man who operated the window both times I have been here. He charged my card for that personās order and then had to reverse it. I finally get my order, he hands me my drink without looking and I canāt even REACH my drink. I pull out and take a sip and itās full of cream (I asked for a splash) and it has zero taste. My egg bites were sloppily put together and my kids croissants were overdone and crusty. I had to turn around and go back, walk inside and return my items. Going to one of the many other locations that gets my order right every time. I understand things happen, but this was over the top and the āmanagerā did not apologize but left her staff to do it for her. Whoever manages this location needs to invest in some training for your staff. The only genuinely nice and caring employee was the man who processed my return and got the brunt of my frustration and the young lady at the front who also apologized twice. So to you both at at the front, thank you for being kind and my apologies that you got my wrath for the incompetences of your fellow teammates and your careless...
