I would love to give this place a better review but I can't because of the following: after being seated (approximately 5:45 pm) we waited about 20 or 30 minutes before we had a drink order put in...asked for bread at that time never got it our dinner order was put in at drink, and ask for water and bread time (approximately 30 mins after being seated) after two hours and 3 bread requests later we inquired about where our food was and the waitress informed us that she did not put our order in!!! It was frustrating to see people who were seated after us getting water, bread, and food. An hour in all we got was wine, water and finally bread (after 3 requests and almost 2 hours in). My mother needs to take medication but needs to eat before taking so we arrived around 5:40 pm to make sure she could do so. Almost 7:30 pm (2 hours later) we were informed that our order was not put in so we left and went to the bar next door. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and exercised extreme patience cos it is a new place because we talked to the people at the table next to us and took note of other tables and when tbey were served etc. New place and I understand that but I likely won't be back. We put our dinner order in when we put our drink order in (almost 30 mins after we got there and were seated) so there was really no excuse to have not put our order in. We did that intentionally because of the observation of how busy and short staffed it was.
We observed a lot of people coming in. Standing for a few minutes and leaving.
And again, I asked 3 times for bread. That took an hour and a half to get. Never got to try the food!
Overall bad experience. I very much want to support local business etc but sheesh.. not at the expense of my mom not being able to take her meds. We go to restaurants early because of that and this place completely missed the mark. We would up at the bar next door to get something to eat quick. Thanks...
Read moreMixed review… We really wanted to like this family owned restaurant, we’re an Italian family always in search for Italian restaurants, and it’s only a couple miles from our WF house.
Their website stated it opens at 4pm and we flew in from Florida and decided to drop in without a reservation at 4:30pm. I see on Google it states 5pm open but we looked at the menu from their website so didn’t see the 5pm opening, no problem, they were very nice, sat us, we ordered a bottle of Bonanza Cabernet and a Sauvignon Blanc, and enjoyed wine and chitchat until they were ready.
We started with Caesar salads (crisp but dressing was just okay) and the mushroom appetizer (good not great). Warm bread was brought w/olive oil/balsamic, the bread was good, more French loaf style. Another bottle of Cabernet. For dinner we had the lobster ravioli (plentiful, good not great), the Fantasia del Mare which is Pappardelle with seafood which was delicious, and the Penne Della Nonna which was average at best. The meatball was VERY mushy, the sausage & rib good, pasta WAY over cooked… I have to say if we hadn’t just got off a flight, only 1 of us would have finished our meals. We had the pistachio cheesecake (delish) and the chocolate mousse cake (bland) for dessert.
The service was average, the decor/atmosphere was bland, basic tables, hard chairs, black table clothes, very dark. We will not return but that’s okay, because the place was packed by 6pm so obviously others think it’s great. The owner was very friendly, chatting with customers which was great to see and we REALLY wish we liked it. It is so convenient, in a strip mall with other restaurants, plenty of parking… we wish we liked it as Wake Forest needs more quality restaurants. Our bill was...
Read moreThis is the first time I've ever done a review, but I had such a great experience I googled how to do it so I could help you the next time you were looking for that "way above awesome" place to go for an unforgettable meal. My son referred me to Milazzo's months ago, but I rarely go out to dinner and had been looking for an excuse. Last Friday, I called and made a reservation for myself and 4 of my favorite mom's. We showed up right on time for our reservation and were met with a beautiful, pleasant, and professional hostess who promptly escorted us to our seats. As we were ordering our cocktails, the owner, Chris, overheard my request and suggested his bikini martini instead. I'm sure glad I accepted because it was absolutely delectable causing me to break my 1 drink rule and had 2. Let me tell you folks, had I not been the DD I would have spent a small fortune just in martinis! Our waiter, Guisepe, was a charming and witty gentleman who saw to our every need, supplying just the right amount of attention and with perfect timing. He deliciously described the specials of the evening with such flare that we all ordered from that portion of the menu. Our food was served hot and in a timely manner with stunning presentation. I chose the filet mignon with cream peppercorn sauce and fresh green beans. Although slightly pricier than I typically like to pay for a meal, it was worth every single penny as I just polished of my third and final meal from the original as I wrote this review. The last bite was as scrumptious as the first! One of the other mom's did the same with her leftovers yesterday. The atmosphere was simple and elegant and only complimented by their incredible staff. You owe it to yourself to check...
