First Watch — Restaurant in Wake Forest

Being a first-time customer at FirstWatch, I was definitely expecting something a little more upscale than my usual brunch spots...diverse menu, good food quality and presentation, satisfactory flavor, comfortable environment, etc. However, I was completely wrong assuming this was going to be "a little more upscale."

The homely but spacious and rustic scene felt comfortably familiar and the staff only encouraged that first welcome. I was met by a few different staff members, always asking how I was doing and if there was anything I needed. Although this is an excellent trait in any waiter/waitress, what's rare is being served as an individual and not only a customer. With confidence, First Watch understands this. Making an effort to get to know your guests requires much more than taking an order. I had pleasant conversations with 2 of the waitresses and never felt pressured or uncomfortable doing so.

The food did more than not disappoint. Ordering a variety of entrees, I personally favorited the Farm Stand Breakfast Tacos, Baja Turkey Burger, and the classic Million Dollar Bacon appetizer. When I was asked about a beverage, the waitress suggested the Kale Tonic which to my surprise was a fantastic wake-me-up. Having not had my coffee yet, she offered me an iced glass made "her way." Within 2 minutes I was sipping an iced coffee with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. Presentation and flavor balance matters, and she nailed both.

Great food, but terrible service. We loved the get in line feature! However, we felt our server Michael was rushing us during our entire meal. When our meal came he abruptly placed our meal on the table and walked away. Half way through our meal, he came back to the table and started reaching over us to clean up empty cups/plates. Even though he saw we were not done, he asked how we wanted to do the check. After telling him who was together in our group, he rushed back with the check and took our card (while we are still eating and we only had 3 people but it was only 2 checks ) and proceeded to reach over us again to clean up more plates. He quickly brought back the receipt and we signed it and he takes it... mind you we are still eating and he is pacing back and forth staring at our table. At that point, we had enough and we finished the rest of our meal and left. It all started one Friday morning, since then, I dine in with First Watch at least once a week. The menu not only offers a variety of nutritious options, but also a flavorful and fresh meal. The service was outstanding. The food is delivered at a quick pace allowing for a warm meal. Last week I was attended by a server named Alfredo. He provided quick service and had an outgoing personality, which matches great with the environment. He described the First Watch menu with great passion and detail. Not only could i tell he was a food lover but also that he supported the principles of First Watch. He spoke so highly of the place. That is one server that enjoys his job. The environment at the location is very welcoming. The seasonal drink, Tropical Sunrise was an amazing contribution to the menu. I can not forget their iced coffee.
