Recently, I decided to revisit some local businesses I had reviewed unfavorably in the past.
I had a long night working and hadn’t eaten anything in almost 24 hours. I was craving a hamburger and decided to stop at cook out since it was close, giving me a chance to try them again after a lackluster visit in the past where I’d felt ripped off.
I pulled into the parking lot around 10:15 am and noticed it was empty with no lines.
At the menu board, the cashier promptly took my order and explained it would be a few minutes of waiting, I had no problem with that.
As I waited at the window, I noticed my clock and looked up the hours; noticing immediately they weren’t officially open.
I spent well over a decade on high end food service and honestly, I was mortified. I had become that dreaded early customer.
Despite me explaining my sleight and apologizing profusely when they returned to the window, the cashier happily shrugged it off and continued their work quickly and cheerfully.
Later, at home, I was expecting comeuppance when I opened my meal up. It was absolutely perfect. Awesome sized portion, fresh fresh fresh food, and overall just PERFECT. Like, the entire experience was awesome.
Despite my screw up, they took it in stride and still accommodated me with promptness despite me telling them I had no problem waiting. They weren’t spiteful and instead were very understanding and courteous.
I’m glad I tried them again because I will definitely be back (during operating hours, of course!)
Previous review (was two stars);
Was long excited for this location. I actually grew up not far from the original so I’ve been a customer for decades.
Unfortunately, it’s started to fall by the wayside as it’s abandoned the qualities that made it unique and worthwhile, a noticeably strange action considering the chain is still ran privately.
My last trip to the walkertown location will be my last as I ordered a “big double burger tray” that contained two pieces of meat, charred hard, the size of two silver dollar pancakes. It felt like a joke. And for some reason, the customer is the mark as owners greedily pocketed over $10 for it.
The chicken wrap in my order was instead a bacon wrap, which would’ve been excusable had the other offense not occurred.
The frustration as a customer comes to a head as there is no central contact to lodge complaints; a hard lesson I learned three screwed up orders ago.
Attached pictures show that the two patties in my double burger look like a single 1/8 pound patty that has been split in two then charred to a beef crisp. Each was smaller than the palm of my hand. It’s almost like the person in charge of portion control was trying to convince himself that meat smaller than palm size was “big”.
These people have become sloppy and uncaring as their success has turned them greedy. And the fact there’s no way to address issues without returning to the same location conveys to customers they don’t care about...
Read moreOrdered a cheeseburger tray with cheese and A-1 sauce only, double fries not salt, and a huge pink lemonade. After waiting for nearly 15 minutes in line behind 1 car sitting at the window, I got my order and came home to enjoy. (the cashier told me the car in front of me was a remake which is why it took so long and he did apologize for the weight) To my shock, the cheese burger I ordered was not correct. Instead, mine had mayonnaise/ketchup/onions on it. My fries were actually pretty good this time which is surprising as they normally are either cold, loaded with salt, or all brown and squishy. The drink, well, it’s correct and pretty hard to mess up a drink. I have called the number listed on google 2 times now and now one answers. I leave a voicemail. Figures, it is more than likely a cooperation number in which no one ever calls back. Just a way most fast food places blow of customer calls as most calls are complaints anyway. Great service once I got to the window, good fries this time around, poor listening skills by the burger person, and I feel quality control was over looked here as if there was some, my order wouldn’t have been made...
Read moreLast night, I pulled into the drive thru at the Walkertown Cook Out - I asked if CO still had “cheese dogs” (a bun with chili, cheese, slaw, mustard & onions - and NO HOTDOG) available. Im not sure why they came off of the menu at many locations - regardless, they still have the required ingredients. When i asked about them, the response i received through the drive-thru was “Im not really sure to be honest”. “Let me check for you” - was the response I shouldve received, at the very least. 🤦 $20 that was going to cookout decided to go to elsewhere....
