I wish this place was better, they have so much potential but fail miserably. The food is ok, toast is usually burnt on 1 side of the bread while the other side is barely toasted? Don't ask me how that happens I have no idea. As long as you are ok with the same boring specials every week and the same boring food that is cooked relatively good, then this place is great for you.
What really just breaks the camels back is the smoking! The owner (I assume she is) swears it is from when Tom's was there so many years ago. I find that really hard to believe for a few reasons but one very important one is I'm allergic to smoke! I can smell a freshly lit cigarette very well, I know what they smell like, I know how it differs from "old smoke". Another one is I've seen the cook smoking in back!! You have an employee clearly smoking in the back with a bunch of people in front? Also does any of the cooks wash their hands? I've never seen any of them wash their hands after coming out to say hi to someone and shake hands, or lets say....have a smoke?
Again, I use to like Scotty's Breakfast, I use to eat there back when I was a kid with my parents on Broadway and now as an adult I rediscovered them. I guess I'm just missing the old Scotty's Breakfast.
I'll skip over the paper plates and plastic silverware part because there is a bigger subject to tackle. Whoever the blonde hair lady is that works in the weekdays needs a huge attitude adjustment! She is just down right vicious sometimes and completely rude. It has gotten to the point where I've stopped asking questions and just order if I happen to be in the area that day. I use to make small talk or ask how things are going but she is by far one of the entitled adults I've ever met in my life.
People want to go to Scotty's Breakfast to eat food not hear about all your problems. They have therapists for that. If you've read this far down, the weekends are usually better as there is a brown haired lady and younger blonde who works and lately a guy doing waitstaff who are all way nicer...
Read moreWe were car shopping in Wallingford, CT. Googled breakfast and decided to try Scotty's Breakfast. They have a flavor coffee, and they have a daily special written on a black chalkboard. I missed those boards in school. My son loves pancakes. He ordered chocolate pancakes. The stack was only two but they were big he couldn't finish and he is a young adult. I couldn't finish mine either. The amount of bacon and nice and thick. My son said he would be going to Scottys again. He has never had pancakes that good. He is a pancake lover. He had the cinnamon bun coffee, and he really enjoyed it. It's a very small place but very cozy and the staff were friendly. I will be visiting again with my family. I highly...
Read moreWe ordered breakfast to-go from here on Mother’s Day, came highly recommended from a friend. It was my first time there so I was a bit confused on where to go, but the lovely woman waiting tables helped me. She gave me regular updates on how long it would be until my order was ready, and made sure that we had everything we needed (utensils, napkins, etc). I wish I had gotten her name, because she was so lovely.
The food was delicious!! I got an brocolli, mushroom, and cheese omelette, my husband got the shaved steak, egg & cheese sandwich & my toddler got scrambled eggs with cheese. We also got a side of bacon & hashbrowns! Everything was outstanding! We will...
