Coconut Jelly King 皇阿玛椰子冻 (Rowland Heights) — Restaurant in Walnut

OMG I'm addicted to this place and I usually hate coconut! I'll even eat the plain coconut "singles" (I still don't like the clear coconut layer in the "double") though the mango is my favorite.

I usually have a pretty small dessert stomach but I can eat a whole jar by myself in a single sitting (probably even two if I allowed myself to try).

I have tried Melo Melo also several times to compare, but while their bags and stuff are prettier the actual food itself isn't as good. MM's coconut jelly is mushier and slightly too sweet. CJK's is perfect, with almost a Jell-o or almond dofu-like firm but giving texture.

I'm sad that they don't seem to carry other items I love anymore, like their mango pomelo sago which is as good as the mps at Sweet Heart, Premier Dessert Art and Sweethoney, and their clear jelly thing which seemed like a play on water cake and is as good as Jell and Chill in the bay area, plus other things I never got to try. I won't take away a star for it but if they still had these other things they would get 10...

What a cute little dessert shop tucked away in a strip mall in Rowland/Hacienda Heights. The name of this store is regal, it's referring to the Qing Dynasty Emperor, Qian Long lol. They even put out a series of clay dolls resembling the Emperor, his Queen and also his Royal Consort. The one turned facing the other direction remains a mystery, but I'd venture to guess it's either a concubine or Palace Maid. This place is famous for their coconut jelly dessert. This dessert comes in a variety of flavors. I picked the one with mango toppings. Velvelty-smooth in texture and the mango chunks added a nice zing of flavor. Their coconut jelly is SO GOOD. The mouth feel is very lush and rich but it's surprisingly light. I ate a whole jar in one sitting and it didn't feel heavy. The coconut flavor is phenomenal. I've never had such a good coconut jelly before. It's so soft and creamy. I got the hawthorne one. It was good but I liked just the original jelly better. So much that I even got a another jar. I love the packaging, the glass jars are a really great take home item. I use em now to store my overnight oats. Highly highly recommend coming here if you love coconut...
