Been to a lot of different great Korean Soon Tofu restaurants in San Gabriel Valley Area. Because I was shopping in the area, I couldn't make it back to my home area in time, so I found this place because they open later than most Korean Tofu houses in the area. If you don't want to drive all the way to Koreatown, or SGV. for good Korean food. Just come here, it will do your craving.
Great ambience: Clean with lots of seating, Cool Saltwater Aquarium, Big TV's with Korean Shows playing, Comfortable tables.
Great Selection: Has all the usual Tofu House Combinations, plus not usual combination options such as Tonkatsu. Excited to try their other dishes that you usually have to go to a different specialty Korean restaurants to get like (Beef Bone Soup) Kalbi Tang, (Gingseng Chicken Soup) Samgaetang and other dishes.
Great Quantity & Price: They could charge more if they wanted to, but they choose to keep it at an affordable market price. They gave great portions for the price. We ordered the Combination Tofu with Tonkatsu with another order of Soon Tofu. Tried the Seafood Tofu (Shrimp and Clam), max Spicy and the Beef Tofu, Spicy. Was thoroughly satisfied, Plenty of soft tofu, in both the combination and regular size. Most tofu places give less tofu, in their combination tofu. Not this place.
Legit Korean food: You know its legit when older generation Koreans eats their too. But you know its not to hardcore when buncha non Koreans eat their was well. We've had our share of Korean food in Koreatown L.A and in Seoul, Korea. This place executes their dishes very well. Not common for a restaurant to execute well on multiple types of dishes. I was pleasantly surprised that their Tofu House dishes excelled, and their Tonkatsu excelled. Most of the time you can't get the best of both worlds. This place delivered. The Tonkatsu was large, crispy, fresh, juicy. Just as good as a Tonkatsu specialty restuarant. It was simple though, but did the job. Came with shredded cabbage with special thousand island like sauce, and instead of Katsu/Curry sauce, they used this Sesame Cream Peanut dressing sauce that paired very well with it.
The selection of the side dishes or pan chan isn't as variety than other types of Korean restaurant. But they give the Basic ones, and they do it very well, taste fresh. No seaweed, but comes with classic Potato salad, Spicy Cucumber Kimchi, Sesame oil Bean Sprouts, Kimchi, and Steamed Broccoli. Their pan chan game was on the same level in terms of flavor as my favorite Tofu houses in San Gabriel Valley.
Friendly and attentive staff: had the pleasure to speak with Christine who made sure we were taken care of and enjoyed everything, and the other staff was nice too. Gave us our side dish refills with no issue. No one should feel have to feel bad to ask...
Read moreThe food is fine — nothing to complain about, and if you enjoy Korean cuisine, this is a decent spot. However, the service really took away from the experience. I usually don’t care much about service, but this was bad enough to affect the meal. Our server didn’t speak English very well but seemed very impatient during communication, almost as if blaming us for not speaking her language. There were three of us, but we ordered portions for two to share because we wanted a light dinner. The server appeared unhappy about it and only brought two plates. When we asked for a third, she looked surprised and annoyed. We avoided asking for refills on the small dishes because her attitude made us uncomfortable. When serving food, she expected us to clear the table immediately and said “excuse me” sharply when we didn’t react fast enough. We noticed she was friendly and talkative with Korean customers, joking and thanking them warmly, but offered none of that to us.
At one point, we were literally trying to get another server’s attention without letting ours notice — just to avoid interacting with her. We still left an 18% tip, because that’s not how we express dissatisfaction, but the experience was deeply disappointing. It’s hard to understand how she can be racist toward other Asians while not having working English in the U.S. — truly...
Read moreLast time we tried to come here, it was too close to closing time and did not make it. This time I got here earlier. This place did not disappoint! I was craving some Korean tofu soup and Galbi, and this place was just what I was looking for. Sometimes I want good quality Korean food and not an ayce type of place. I got their combo deal with Dolsot Bimbimbap and Seafood Tofu soup. I also ordered a Galbi entree on the side. The food came out pretty quickly. The Banchan were fresh and well pickled. Everything was so amazing! I love how everything came out sizzling hot. The seafood tofu soup was very tasty and well flavored. It was perfect for a cold night. I love the presentation of the Dolsot Bimbimbap. It’s a good dish to share because it’s huge! I love all the mixed vegetables that’s in it. A good dollop of gochujang sauce really bring out another layer of flavor. The Galbi was my favorite. It came out perfectly the way I like it, hot and juicy! The meat is well marinated and not too sweet. Each bit was so satisfying. I’m really glad I came. Also, all the servers were really friendly. This place feels very homey and relax. The menu price is fair for the quality of food you get. There’s also plenty of parking in the plaza. I am down to come back with my...
