Banana Bay

I absolutely love the food at Banana Bay but WOW their service is so incredibly slow. So slow that I have to dock it down by 2 stars because it was painful.

WAIT TIMES & RESERVATIONS My friend celebrated her birthday here and we made a reservation because it's always busy on a Saturday night. The wait isn't absolutely terrible but you do have to have everyone in your party or they will not seat you. They also do not call you out by name, they call you out by number.

When we were seated, it took us close to fifteen minutes before the waters were served and over thirty minutes before our order was taken. I mean I get that I went with a larger table, but the fact that nobody came to check up on us and we had to flag them down was terrible.

The wait for the food itself wasn't terrible but the food didn't come out extremely hot either. I'll give them a pass on this as I'm sure they wanted to serve all the food at once.

FOOD Pad See Ew -- definitely order this! It is so delicious and it isn't too oily. The overall dish is amazing and there's a perfect balance of noodles, meat, and vegetables. I highly recommend getting this with beef.

Thai BBQ w/Pork -- loved this combination because it came with bbq pork, Chinese sausage, and deep fried pork belly on a bed of steamed rice and drowned in peanut sauce. The peanut sauce is perfect for the meat and so is the dipping sauce for the pork belly.

Pineapple Fried Rice -- decent dish but would rather order something else. There's more rice than there is chicken, egg, and shrimp. It's alright...

PARKING Don't be fooled by the back alley of the parking lot. The stalls are so small and people do not know how to park here. It is very difficult to find a place to park and when you do there's almost no space between your car and the ones next to yours. Something about Rowland Heights, I guess.

SERVICE Overall, terrible experience. Yes, the servers were friendly... when they were present to even come by our table. I knew that they didn't care because they were getting gratuity but we almost never saw the server. We flagged her down just to order half an hour after being seated. We were never topped off for drinks with water throughout our meal. We had to flag the server down again in order to pay and when we finally got the check about 20 minutes later it took about 10 more minutes just to get it rung up. Honestly, if I had dined and dashed I don't even think they would have noticed with how slow they were to begin with...

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES Wow, these drinks are cheap. Jack and coke, Jameson and ginger, sex on the beach, and tequila sunrise were all around $6.50-8.00 dollars. This is without happy hour pricing as well! The downside is that the bartender has a heavy hand and gives you about 90% alcohol and 10% chaser. The upside, obviously, is that you definitely get your money-making worth.

-- Overall, I wish I had a better experience here because the food is absolutely amazing. Please learn to be more attentive to your larger tables and maybe then you'll get a tip on top of your...

I have been going here since high school and even celebrated my 21st there. I haven’t been here in years was excited to eat it again. The worst mistake. The food is bland, I think the chef definitely changed and the customer service got even worse than before.

On Friday I ordered take out and picked up like normal. However when I get home I get a phone call from banana bay. The old lady that gave me my order told me “ you took the wrong order you need to come back and give it back” I explained I live 25 min away and it’s peak traffic time. I barely just got home and haven’t even opened our order yet. I asked her what she was going to do to accommodate me for my time. She stated it was my fault I should double checked the order. I guess There were two order under the same name. At this point I’m furious because she didn’t even apologize. And kept blaming me and demanding I come back with the order. I was like so I want a discount or some type of accommodation for you messing it up. I didn’t know there two orders under the same name. It shouldn’t be my responsibility. She kept telling me no she wasn’t gonna give me a discount because it was my fault for not checking my order when I got there. Then she hung up on me. When I called back a man apologized and said he would give me the discount and a free Thai tea for my trouble. I get there she gave me the same tone with not even more attitude. Only gave me a 10% discount and then when the guy asked her to get the Thai tea she refused stating the 10% discount is enough. Even though they were the ones that offered. Then she some how messed up the charges and had to redo it for the third time! I asked for the Thai tea that they offered me she had a whole attitude the entire time she made the Thai tea. Mind you it took us 35 min to get there and 40 min to go back home because again peak. Traffic. No apologies no nothing. Seriously this is how they treat their loyal customers? I always knew customer service was horrible but that old lady was insane. I’ve worked in customer service for over 7years and the audacity to blame a customer for take the wrong order YOU handed me… am I supposed to magically know there are multiple orders under a very common name? Ridiculous! And on top of that my cold food was bland! It was disappointing, waste of my time, and no wonder this place is dead inside. I remember when it used to packed with lines out the door.

Food and service was terrible....

Went on Saturday around 5:30, no wait time for a party of 7. SERVICE: NOT GOOD. the biggest downside of the experience. We arrived having made a reservation that was not found. That wasn't a problem since there was no wait time. There was many open tables large enough to sit our party but we were seated at a table that was barley being cleaned. We asked for another table, but our waiter refused. When we sat down the table was still wet since they rushed the cleaning and I asked them to dry it. Our waiter had trouble keeping track of our drink order, so they did repeat it back to us 3 times to confirm (that's understandable). However, after immediately providing our drinks they asked if we were ready to order our entree. To which we responded "no" since we barely started looking at the menu. They then rushed ("Please hurry") us because they were expecting more large parties very soon and didn't want to deal with orders at the same time. I asked for two more minutes and we started skimming through the menu to try and quickly order. Our orders were delivered at different times by different servers (there seemed to be a lot on duty). No napkins were placed on the table and we never saw our waiter again until it was time to pay. We asked different servers for basic table utensils, but they never brought them to the table. Halfway through our meal, I approached the bar/waiting station two separate times to take napkins, water, plates (extra), and forks (extra) back to my table. No questions were asked by the staff as to why I was doing this myself. Because our party was large, they automatically charged a 15% tip which we paid, but did not believe was fair. On our way out we did speak to the manager who responded with "is it this waiter?" They have had this issues with this specific waiter before. FOOD: Satisfactory but tarnished by the service. We ordered 7 different entries and 2 appetizers. We shared the food and passed the plates around. They were big servings. They do allow you to take an outside cake if you're celebrating. ATMOSPHERE: It was good walking in. Dim lighting, fish tanks, and sand art on the walls with TV for sport channels. But the details like ripped/peeling leather seats and dirty restroom...

MOST HALLOWEEN DECORATED RESTAURANT IN THE 626 AREA WITH @bananabay in Rowland Heights, CA 🎃 👻 This was the place to go back when I was younger whether it’s so decorated for the holidays and so accommodating toward large groups and it’s with Banana Bay. They have all sort of Thai food and they always a great place that brings good food at an affordable price. They also have super generous portioning so it’s perfect to come to. They have a Thriller performance around 9:20 to 9:35pm so make sure to catch it while you can from Thursdays to Saturdays. They have a live band playing all night too so it makes it even more lively. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Banana Bay Thai Restaurant, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Located in a convenient and lively part of town, this restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements its delightful culinary offerings. As soon as we entered, we were greeted with friendly smiles and promptly seated. The decor is charming, with traditional Thai elements blending seamlessly with a modern, cozy vibe. The ambiance was perfect for both casual dining and special occasions. The menu at Banana Bay Thai Restaurant is extensive, offering a wide variety of authentic Thai dishes. We started with the Tom Yum Soup, which was bursting with flavor—spicy, tangy, and filled with fresh ingredients. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the broth had just the right balance of spices. For our main courses, we opted for the Pad Thai and Green Curry with Chicken. The Pad Thai was superb, featuring tender noodles, a generous portion of shrimp, and a delightful blend of sweet, salty, and tangy flavors. The Green Curry was equally impressive, with a rich and creamy sauce, tender chicken, and perfectly cooked vegetables. The level of spice was just right, providing a satisfying kick without overpowering the other flavors. We also tried the Mango Sticky Rice for dessert, which was a perfect end to our meal. The mango was ripe and sweet, and the sticky rice had a wonderful texture and flavor, enhanced by a drizzle of coconut milk. The service throughout our meal was impeccable. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to ensure we had a pleasant dining experience. Our drinks were refilled promptly, and the food arrived hot and beautifully presented. Overall, Banana Bay Thai Restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way. The food was delicious and authentic, the ambiance was inviting, and the service was top-notch. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an outstanding Thai dining experience. Whether you're a Thai cuisine enthusiast or new to it, Banana Bay Thai Restaurant is sure to leave you satisfied and eager to return.

Came for the mango sticky rice but they didn’t have it!!! Found out it was seasonal :0( They decorated so beautifully for Christmas! They have several Christmas trees outside, the effort was definitely noticed and appreciated!! They have very unique fish in their fish tanks and they are pretty entertaining to look at. There is one koi fish that looks HUGE!!! It smelled entirely of bleach when we walked inside and it was freezing with the AC on high (it’s a cold day too, this is December)!! We tried looking for a seat with no AC vent but there is none. I liked the sand wall decoration they have up. It’s very unique and beautiful. My friend and I had their pad thai and pad see ew with chicken. Both were delicious and big portions! It came out fast too so we didn’t have to wait long. The Pad See Ew had a lot of veggies and they were cut up into perfect bite size. The Pad Thai had a more mushy texture but it still tasted really good. I used their restroom and it was pretty gnarly. There was a water leak and some black stuff on the ground (don’t know if I want to know what that is but I hope they clean better. I considered taking a star off because it was that gross and seemed unsanitary).
