Smokin Willes BBq — Restaurant in Wamego

I know this place is supposedly a "beloved" locally owned business, however, I'm not sure why their ratings are so high as far as the food is concerned. Been to this establishment several times now and we're never really been impressed. Food is never hot, portions need work. The side dishes are no more than like 2 tablespoons worth! I paid more than $16-$17 for a burrito that was half empty! You can see from the photo, 2 inches on each end have no filling and just a few inches of filling in the middle. Seriously? That's not even a meal. No chips, no drink, no side included. The tortilla was chewy like it was stale. Pretty ridiculous in my opinion. Other times we've eaten here, service is decent, atmosphere is ok, but the portions versus the prices is waaaay off. We have ordered something different a handful of times and it doesn't get better. I've mentioned to them if I could get a little more of a side dish and they wanted to charge me for a whole extra portion. I said ma'am, this is BARELY even two spoons worth of a side. She just shrugged her shoulders. Pretty sure she was the owner. Maybe people just don't speak up about the actual issues with this place because they know the owners and dont want to make a fuss. But come on, you're supposed to be a BBQ place. Going to have to step up your game if you want returning customers and referrals to potential other customers. Our family won't be back unfortunately .

Also, please train your new staff before leaving them to run the place without an owner or manager there. They don't even seem to know their own menu. 4 out of 5 questions I asked, they didn't know the answer to....

I came in for the first time on the 10th of July around 11:15am, I bought a full slab and nachos and Mac and Cheese for the kids. The girl that took my order was probably the nicest person on the planet. She was super helpful and gave me recommendations. I get home to eat and took a bite of the ribs without sauce and it almost brought a tear to my eye. It was the best ribs I've ever had in my life. I'm originally from Kansas City but live in Wamego now. I've had a lot of ribs. These were just incredible. I didn't even want to put the sauce on it but knew I had to give it a try. The sweet girl up front told me to try Apple Chipotle. I took a bite of ribs with the sauce and the emotions were almost too much to hold back. I'll dream about these ribs tonight. Customer service was beyond perfect (I wish I got her name) but give her a raise. The pit master deserves to be the Mayor of Wamego. Thank you so much for giving me a great food experience. I...

Very disappointed in the food I ask for the brisket nachos and she said they were out of brisket at the moment and it would take time to heat up some more brisket.,So I got the pull pork nachos and let me tell you the chips were soggy and what ever kind of cheese they used was watered down and had separate, the pork was all wrong just because it has the taste of smoke doesn’t mean it’s cooked good and has flavor. In fact if it wasn’t for the smoke flavor the pork wouldn’t had any taste at all. I guess I wouldn’t have left such a big complaint but I’m a very good cook and I would consider my self the nacho queen.
