I came to Finchers expecting something great. It's a favorite amongst locals, and most reviews agree that the service is good, and the food is great. I'm a born and bred Georgia native, and I have had a lot of barbecue in my life, but I'm new to the area and hadn't ventured out into local spots before now. All I can say is, if this is Middle Georgia's idea of good Barbecue, I don't have high hopes for anywhere else. Let me explain.
To start, the service was awfully slow. The dining room was closed, and we waited to get to the drive thru window for twenty minutes with only one car ahead of us. Once at the window, we were informed that they were out of multiple things, staples of the menu like turkey and Brunswick stew. Keep in mind this was 4 hours before they closed, and they were by no means packed with people, so not sure where the scarcity was coming from. In any case, I got a large barbecue sandwich, fries, and ribs. The lack of classic sides like mac n cheese was definitely a negative in my book as well, but I guess you can go to Captain D's next door if you're after that.
On to the food. The sandwich, even though it was meant to be larger, had very little meat on it, and the meat that was there tasted like it was cooked in a crock pot. I could do a better job in a crock pot, too. No smoke flavor at all, and the sauce was uninspiring. The bun tasted old and was very dry as well.
The ribs, to their credit, were tender, and well seasoned. But there was zero smoke flavor, and no smoke ring to be found. They tasted like baked ribs at best, which as anyone knows good barbecue will tell you, means they aren't good ribs. The fries were bland, unsalted, and overcooked, not to mention clearly ore Ida crinkle fries from the frozen foods section of kroger.
If you like basic, kind of depressing, high school lunchroom level food, this place is for you. If you have any taste in barbecue at all, stay far away. I will...
Read more11-13-25 1:58p.m. I resend what I said about not having anything bad to say about this location. I pull in today at 1:45 and there is a sign on the door saying dining room closed at 1 p.m. drive thru open till 3:00p.m I go around and get 2 super pigs and a sweet tea. And away I go. Reach down in the bag and the bun is ice cold, figure ok bread was in cooler. Take a bite of the sandwich and the meat is barley warm at all and in spots. FINCHERS, what are you trying to do, give someone food poisoning? The meat on this sandwich was no ware near 140 degrees. Thinking I will be crossing this place off my list of favorites.
Posted a while back: I have never had anything negative to say about this location... I have ate here several times and they are on top of their game at this location. Great flavor with all the food and always friendly. To the employees at this location, Thank you for getting it right 100%...
Read moreParking lot and lobby were clean. Customer service was great. The food was awful. I'm from the Midwest where BBQ means Seasoning, Smoke, and Great Sauce. This is BOILED-B-Q. I ordered the Brisket Plate and it was nothing but boiled beef. It was the cut with a lot of fat that didn't render. No seasonings from a dry rub or smoke. They were out of Okra so I opted for potato salad. Either I'm biased because I cook at Home and don't trust anyone else's potato salad, but Fincher's was nasty! It was like a vinegar potato mash. Might as well had put raisins in it. The baked beans tasted like they were straight out of a can and not jazzed up at all. It's like Boiled-B-Q for a nursing home where the food is bland on purpose because of other's dietary restrictions. The cashier was kind and refunded without hesitation. Wouldn't return because it's not for me, but...
