Well, how do I say this and be nice about it. Went to this charlestons with a group of folks.
Let's start out my drink order. Ordered an old fashion with BT, which took 30 minutes for the waitress to come back with everyones drinks, and she let me know they were out of BT bourbon. This was after everyone else in the party had their received their drinks. I offered a substitute bourbon. I was told no, they did not have it either. At that point, I just ordered water.
Now, onto dinner, I ordered the prime rib 14oz. After everyone in the party got their food, the waitresses told me that they ran out of prime rib. Now understand I have now been waiting for over an hour for dinner. Everyone else at my table and the 6 tables around us got their food and well into eating. people from our group are leaving at this point. We had still not received our food. We were at the 2 hour mark. Our party was leaving and we still had not received our dinner. Finally after 2 hours 30 minutes we received our dinner. It was not cooked to my asking the blackend pork chops were just regular pork chops. Honestly, I was not sending it back because I was starving.
Dessert, we had ordered dessert to go when we received our dinner. After another long 20 min wait. They were short one desert it was mine. I looked at the waitress and said, "Are you serious?" So that means my entire meal, including the desert and drink, had compleetly run out.
We made it to the three hour mark where several of us were waiting on a check. When out of thin air, a piece of carrot cake appears, and still no check. Also, we were still waiting on the to go boxes. Btw, several of us are sitting around still waiting on the checks. Finally, the check arrives, and we get to leave very quickly.
I have dawned the doorstep at charlestons many times and have never had this experience before. This was hands down the worst experience I have ever had at a charlestons. Let me say this, do yourself a favor if you have the desire to eat at charlestons. Take a trip over by the airport and eat at that charlestons. They know how to treat guests. The food and service are always second to none. It is amazing how different these restaurants really are. The level of professionalism at this charlestons is non-existent, and I will not come back to this one. I might suggest you...
Read moreI'm one who is generally pretty easy to please - okay with most things and not one to make a fuss. With that said, I've been a long time customer of this restaurant and with the exception of a couple of minor hiccups, the food and service has been consistently good. This evening was a very DIFFERENT story. Alone during Christmas this year, I decided to treat myself to a good steak (the HAWAIIAN RIBEYE) - especially since my family's tradition has been for all of us to go out on Christmas Eve for a good steak dinner, usually at Red Rock. I decided to forego Red Rock this year and go to Charleston's, after reading some reviews about their steaks. I've had many different entrees, at Charleston's, but never steak.
On the positive side, the service and the side dishes were good. The steak. OH the STEAK - WAS THE WORST RIBEYE I HAVE EVER TRIED TO EAT! When I first tried cutting into it, it was very tough, even though the inside was (overcooked for me) a dark pink (I ordered it Rare). One would think that even a Medium cooked steak would be easy enough to cut though, but not this one. It was supposed to have been marinated, but there was NO FLAVOR to this meat whatsoever. The last straw for me was trying to cut through all of the gristle in and around the steak. I finally gave up on it and just ate the carrots. In my honest opinion, for $51 or any price point, this was definitely NOT a quality grade cut of meat.
For someone having to spend Christmas alone, the thought of doing something like my family's Christmas Eve tradition of celebrating with a good steak dinner - even by myself - was something I was SO looking forward to.
Now I just feel like I've just thrown $56.00 (ONE STEAK DINNER) ...
Read moreIt's not often I come to Charleston's, it's not because I don't like it but it's hard to get in my restaurant rotation. Last time dining here was 2023.
This was always a work favorite, to host a vendor luncheon or to have just a get together with coworkers. Needless to say I've dined here many many times.
I've tried everyone of their salads and numerous entrees. I've never had a bad experience. However, I do not have an overall favorite. Today's option was to choose a sandwich. Earlier in the week I had a Reuben up in Tulsa and I was left unsatisfied. So time for a do over!
This Reuben was much better than the earlier version I had. I love the fact that the dressing comes on the side and you can add or dip as you go. Plenty of sauerkraut and pastrami. I would have preferred the pastrami to be sliced much thinner but that's my personal preference.
The Creamy Coleslaw was a nice addition. It was cold and fresh and paired well with the sandwich.
The one thing I dislike is the noisy atmosphere. I get it there is nothing that can be done about that so just have to deal with it. It's hard to converse if it's a large group.
Big shout to the servers!!! Dillon was our main server and I think he did a tremendous job with our table of nine! Those who assisted him were just as great as they quickly removed the plates from the meal.
I will say that you can't go wrong if you're wanting to grab a good meal at lunch either with friends or...
