subs/cheesesteaks/burgers/misc. finger foods.
Yella's tries really hard to not be fast food but just barely crosses that threshold with its spotlessly brand new retro-diner interior and extra chirpy staff (we were given free cookies + and the cashier swapped a misheard item without hassle despite it being a buck more expensive) which one'd have to see would last with time.
It learns the lessons of Subway's failures and gives the American people what they flat out want with a pragmatic menu combination with Five Guys, resulting in some weird limbo between fast-casual (Panera, Chipotle) and fooling yourself that by paying a dollar or two more per menu item you're not having outright fast food (the food's not unhealthy but it isn't healthy either). In practice however it's probably just a welcome addition to the lunch options of the surrounding office buildings nearby.
As for the food itself, the tenders were either overseasoned or overcooked but it wasn't the former because the bread was really hard and the inside didn't taste like anything. You will think 8$ is not that much for a chicken sandwich until you get it and it's borderline mini-sized. The fries were alright but didn't leave a strong impression. The best thing was the shake which came with a little ice...
Read moreOverrated!! Please see the attached pic of onion rings. That’s $5 worth onion rings. We got a cowboy burger- the onion rings on the burger were cold. We had ordered a veggie sandwich as well. It was cold to a point I could not eat and packed it to eat when the chill will be gone. Not recommended and will not visit again.
To the Owner,
I understand that cold sandwiches are meant to be served cold—but there is a difference between chilled and nearly frozen. The bread was so hard that I couldn’t even bite into it. I didn’t return to the manager because that would have required taking back all of the food, which at that point seemed like a lost cause.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t just one issue—it was everything we ordered. And while I see you’ve taken the time in other reviews to justify your offerings, you seem to have overlooked the $5 charge for just 5 onion rings, which, as shown in the picture, were clumped together and poorly prepared.
Defending overpriced and subpar food in responses does nothing to help your business. What would make a difference is genuine effort toward improving the quality and value of...
Read moreI've been twice now. It's obvious the staff is still learning, but they are friendly and eager and I'm sure things will soon be running well. My first visit was picking up a sandwich to go, in this case the Turkey Sub with pepper jack cheese and chipotle mayo. The roll was fresh and the rest of the ingredients were as well. it survived the trip back to the house without falling apart. I do wish there was an option for a half sub, but they aren't Mike's with the different sizes. This sandwich was two meals for me. My second visit a week later was for dining in, so I opted for a hot meal... A cheeseburger and fries. The burger was tasty, but a bit rare for taste (they didn't ask how to cook it). The fries were again tasty, but many were undercooked. The dining room is cheery and sparkling clean with olde fifties/sixties tunes playing... My mom would have been happy to hear them. I think once the kinks are knocked out, mostly with getting the staff more experience, it will be a great addition to our normal weekly...
