I was glad to hear that Basha's Chicken was finally open as it's in the same storefront that Bella's Pizza (now closed) once occupied. I was excited to try a new chicken place so I placed an order for an 8-piece Chicken Bucket - Original (comes w/a large Broasted Potatoes + Large Cole Slaw) and a 5-Piece Chicken Tenders Meal - Original & Spicy (comes w/an order of Broasted Potatoes + a cornbread square). The prices are on par with other chicken places however, Basha's gives generous portions unlike most other chicken places.👍 The customer service was excellent, my order was placed correctly and we had no problems or errors with our food, which is rare in these strange times of a SARS2-covid19 pandemic.
My friend really enjoyed the Chicken and said it was very good, as evidenced by how many pieces were gobbled up in 10 minutes. As well, the cole slaw was very good...not too sweet with just the right amount yumminess. In my 5-piece Chicken Tenders Meal, I had 3 Original & 2 Spicy tenders. The Chicken Tenders were nicely portioned, well seasoned, crispy and ohhhh-soooo moist and juicy inside. The Original was flavorful & delicious, however the Spicy ain't for the faint at heart & were a bit spicy for me. Regardless though, those spicy tenders were so tender & juicy, I dipped them in some homemade Ranch dressing to kill some of the spiciness then gobbled them both up. Hahaha! Next time, I will order Original Chicken only. I asked the person that took my order if I could have a wing sauce to try w/my Tenders and I chose the Basha Sauce. Oh my... That sauce there...IS DELICIOUS! It tastes like a Sweet Chili sauce w/a hint of Ginger and it is fantastic!
Being raised by a Southern Ma that made Southern Scratch Cornbread baked in a cast iron skillet, for sure we don't eat cornbread SWEET. This cornbread was sweet, which I don't like, however it was moist with a cakey, light texture. I gave the cornbread to my friend that SWEARS they hate cornbread BUUUUUTTTT they liked Basha's cornbread...so much so they gobbled it down and wanted more! LOLOL! The Broasted Potatoes were tender and cooked thru but were missing that lil something...which for me is more seasoning and/or salt and less liquid butter. Personally, the next time I order (and there will be a next time) I will ask for light liquid butter and a sprinkling of one of those spice rubs on the Broasted Potatoes for more flavor. Other than those couple of small things, I will definitely be back and order again. Also, was told that Basha's is on Grubhub, Doordash & UberEats. For sure, I will be returning again! Great service...
Read moreI wanted to try something new on 9-28-23, so I decided to try Basha's out. I placed my order over the phone, and I got a 12 pc whole wing bucket. I wanted a couple sides, so I asked what sides they have, and he said fries, so I said ok give me two orders.
When I walked in, the guy didn't greet me and looked at me as if I was a nuisance to him for supporting this place of business. When I got to the counter, I spoke, and he didn't say a word.
Finally, after 5 minutes, I got my food. I looked in the bag, and it's not one napkin or condiment in the bag. Come on now who eats fries and chicken without sauce. I asked for hot sauce, and he had someone get some. The guy got it right away and sat it on the table so the other guy could give it to me. He waited o 3 other people before he gave me my hot sauce, and all he had to do was hand it to me so I could go about my way. And of course, he didn't say thank you once I paid for my food.
Now I get home, and it's two huge family sizes of some dry, tasteless potato wedges. I feel like he should have informed me that those orders were family size. I feel like he should have informed me of that. I thought it was regular side order. If I knew it wasn't, I wouldn't have ordered 2.
I had high expectations for this place, but it was a total letdown. The chicken was...
Read moreIt was OK. The Chicken was pretty good, quality meat, good cook. Wish it had a bit more character and seasoning and spiciness, but it was overall pretty good. It is your typical Broasted chixken. I wish it surprised me more somehow with some unique character and boldness.
Sides are a disappointment. I got coleslaw, which is OK, but super generic. I have tasted this exact same slaw a million times at a million different resteraunts, it all comes from the same food service store pre made stuff.
Potatoes... Well. Menu says they are mashed potatoes, they are not. Disappointing. They are your basic Broasted potato chunks from a Broasted chicken place. They are OK but nothing special, and not the mashed potatoes I wanted.
Service was slow, but staff was friendly and nice and tried hard and tries to make things right, and that counts for a lot.
Overall, I wish everything had more character and flavor. It was very bland and midwastern overall, and the experience was too formularic and generic and predictable. This is basha's chicken, how about giving me some legit Asian flavors, and interesting sides?
I might come back for chicken only, but pass on the sides. I'll still be looking for fried/Broasted chicken comprehensive...
