If you’re looking for a negative review, keep scrolling because this isn’t it. I don’t have one single negative thing to say about this restaurant. My husband went to the restaurant and sent me the menu so I have no idea what the actual building or service is like; this is just a food review.
He ordered the jerk chicken meal and said it was “really good” then proceeded to eat every morsel on his plate and some of mine. The dinner came with cabbage, rice and peas, and plantains in addition to the meat. My husband is a man of fewer words than myself so I’m sure it was just as good if not better than my own.
We split a curry patty. The pastry is wonderful; it’s buttery, crispy in the best ways, and not dried out or overly greasy. The filling was surprising. I’ve only had beef patties so this one was different. I enjoy the taste curry and this one has a very forward curry flavour; if you do not, this is not for you. The patties are larger than I expected. I half of one had me pretty full before I even started my entrée.
My entrée was the curry shrimp dinner. The shrimp were well cooked, flavourful, and not rubbery; they were served with curry potatoes and some cabbage over rice. I don’t have anything crazy to say about the cabbage. The cabbage wasn’t over cooked or bitter and still maintained a delicate sweetness to it. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t the star of the plate.
The star of the meal was the plantains. The plantains… y’all there are no words. The plantains are so delicious. They’re fried to perfection. They’re slightly crisp on the outside and gooey in the middle. Y’all, I started dancing. They were so good, I wanted to call the restaurant just to compliment them on the plantains. I LOVE plantains and always have the highest standards that are usually not met. But Delphine’s? The plantains were amazing. Easily the best I’ve ever had.
All in all, this was a delicious meal and we will absolutely be going back. Do yourself a favour and...
Read moreOxtails had big ol bones in them. Good meat on the bones but not much meat.
Curry goat was pretty good. Good taste and flavors.
The beans and rice was pretty normal. Not much flavor but still good.
The cabbage from here was pretty damn good. Seems like it had more spice than the rice and beans.
The star from this place is the jerk shrimp. The flavors in the juice on the shrimp was SO GOOD! Sweet and savory kind of but more on the sweet side. It paired up perfectly with the shrimp. Would definitely have to revisit the jerk shrimp again very soon.
Please don't get the roti from here because it's not real roti. It's basically just burned pita bread as you can see in the picture.
The lady working here was very stingy with the gravy. She didn't charge me for the extra gravy but she also gave me only a palm full of it. An infant palm at that. I looked at the little container that she gave me and it was gone.
The main reason why I'm giving this place only 3 stars is because........as you can see from the pictures.......our food was all jumbled up in the container. That came from the ride home. The food got like that in the containers because the portion sizes from here is rather SMALL..........even though their prices has risen. It's almost like they raised the prices but lowered the amount of food they give out. I had to go to Taco Bell real quick to get full. Then they dedicated a whole quarter portion of the container to 3 fried plantains which were dried out and pretty gross. Tasted like packing peanuts with oil on them.
Would definitely go here again but only for the...

The family that owns the restaurant is extremely friendly, accommodating, and provides excellent customer service. I really enjoyed Tye level of service they provided to us.
The Ginger Drink is AMAZING! I really enjoyed it. I would definitely order it again.
The plantains were extremely dry and tasted undercooked. Since they’re my favorite part of Afrocentric cuisines, I have to given them a two thumbs down.
The cabbage was slappin! It was super good. I could eat a bowl of it. 10 out of 10 for me!
The peas and rice were not hittin and I’m so upset about it. They were sweet. In my life, I’ve never had sweet peas and rice. It was off putting.
The jerk chicken was also sweet. It tasted more like it had habanero bbq sauce on it. I introduced my husband to Jamaican food when we were dating. He only orders jerk chicken whenever we go. He was extremely disappointed with his meal. I usually only order curry goat when we get Jamaican food, but I ordered the jerk chicken as well this time. I too was very disappointed. I didn’t finish my food because it didn’t cure the hankering I had for Jamaican cuisine.
My husband instructed me to never order from this place again.
The people are amazing but the staple foods didn’t taste authentic at all. I will say that the time I went and tried the curry goat that it was alright. For context, we usually eat at Ronos, Caribbean Citchen, Jamaican Jerk Pit, and...
