The crab fried rice had a teeny tiny bit of crab, but the shrimp were delicious! It was mostly boiled white rice and almost zero salt, and no other seasoning. Blech. It may be that this was because they were still very new then.
When I came in with my mom, aunt, and grandmother, we were treated amazingly well! The crab pho isn't merely a beautiful broth with a gorgeous complexity I've never tasted, even in NYC, and paltry bits of crab anymore. There is now a healthy portion of crab in each bowl.
The people behind us had the most aromatic combination plates I wished I'd had the guts to try one despite my fried rice experience. I would highly recommend a combination plate. I wanted to steal their milk tea smoothies as well. The best Asian smoothies I've had were in Vallejo, California, and every other place has broken ones like at Starbucks, all separated and watery at the bottom. Biggby has truly blended coffee drinks that don't break, and Detroit Pho & Crab has the equivalent of those perfectly creamy drinks. I plan to order one next time.
DEFINITELY not sure the location is the wisest, but in Cincinnati people WILL drive for good food, so I hope this is also how Detroiters treat this AWESOME restaurant.
The waiter played with my 4-month-old son, bonus points!!! One of the hostesses wanted to cuddle and babysit him throughout our meal. Bonus points!!! He wasn't supposed to be exposed to too many people because he's a preemie and it was flu season, but I definitely appreciated the baby-friendly environment. I highly recommend this place to parents who worry that their usually cheerful bundles will cause problems just by existing.
The food is phenomenal, the service is friendly, and the house is staffed with people who really do want to make your family part of...
Read moreYesterday I went to this place for the first time, and the food was AMAZING. I did carryout. The reason I’m giving this place on 2 stars is because they are soooo unorganized! They are very busy which is understandable, but they don’t have someone at the register that greets people, and take orders. They all take orders, and serve people as well. It doesn’t seem like anyone just has a set job. While I was waiting on my food I order a smoothie. It took forever for my smoothie to come out. Why? They forgot I ordered it! I had to ask someone about the smoothie, and he had no idea when I ordered. Without the receipt it would’ve been a mess. Then my food came out, and they put it on the counter behind the bar. They were all so busy doing other things no one told me that my food was ready so I was standing there starring at my food for a minute until I finally asked a random waitress “Can you tell me the status of my order?” She took my receipt, and looked picked up my food that I figured was mine. Though I had the receipt she asked did I pay for the food. Thats how unorganized they are. They can’t tell who did what with what customer which to me is unprofessional, and the wait times are long especially when they don’t keep up with every order. I spent to much to have service like that. If that gets fixed they will be a great restaurant. They have great food, but bad service. Hopefully they do get better because I would...
Read moreI noticed this restaurant promising to open soon. I visit the area at least 3 times a week. Coincidentally, I won a gift card to this restaurant from WDIV (Yes, people do win online contests!) I used it to order a take out to try the food. I had the beef with rice. It came with colorful, fresh vegetables to round out the meal.
When I got home and opened my take-out, it was still hot and the presentation of the food was magazine-worthy. I apologize...I didn't think about a picture until I had demolished most of the food, by then it was too late and would have only been an injustice. The food is very tasty and I will be returning to try something else!
The next time I will order and eat-in. While I ordered and waited for my carryout order, I noticed that the atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice. It is perfect for birthday celebrations, date nights, office parties, or family get togethers, since it is definitely a family-friendly restaurant.
The staff was friendly and did not hesitate to answer my questions about the food that was displayed and the menu items. The menu offers something for every one, even for picky or finicky people.
They are a tinge pricey, but considering the amount and the quality of food they serve, it is well worth it. If you love great food, I suggest you give this...
