I've being going to Jack's for years. I went a lot as a child and teenager and here and there as an adult. Always a good restaurant but regrettably I forgot it's there in nearby Warren R. I. and hadn't been in a long time. Well it was Friday and I was in the mood for Seafood. My usual spot was booked solid so I googled Seafood restaurants near me. Happily Jack's came up in the search so I checked out the menu and wasn't disappointed. Not only did they have a LARGE selection of seafood but a large selection of everything else from, steaks and chicken to great pasta dishes. Moving along, I went to Jack's with my son and my brother; I had made a reservation ahead of time. We got there and we're greeted by a very friendly waitress who promptly brought us to our table. I was there for seafood. I started with Scungili (Snail salad) it was delicious one of the best I've had. If your not familiar with this dish it Conch sliced thinly in a vinaigrette sauce with fresh greens and some garlic. It's a dish that's tough to find but as Jack's is primarily an Italian restaurant it's a staple there. Next up was my choice of entree. I was leaning toward the lobster, boiled, baked stuffed or grilled were my choices or a clamboil, consisting of soft shell clams, sausages, hotdogs, chourico, corn on the cob, potatoes and an onion. At first I went with the clamboil as my choice, only to be reminded by my brother that it was lent so all the good meat fixins' would be a no, no, for my Catholic faith. Damn! Uh oh so much for my faith. So reluctantly I decided to give the menu the once over again. Although the lobster was my second choice, I wasn't in the mood to wrestle with my food with nutcrackers to get at the succulent lobster meat encased in their bright red armor. Stuffed fish was on my mind but I didn't see it on the menu with the many other fish dishes. However to my delight when I questioned the waitress she informed me that they had a baked stuffed sole as a special. So that's what I ordered. My son had Jack's famous Seafood special, a pasta dish with a white clam sauce and lots of different seafood while my brother had the seafood casserole along with calamari as an appetizer. ( You can order it 3 different ways) My snail salad came first and it was the best, we all enjoyed it. The calamari arrived shortly afterward. It consisted of the squid rings with sliced banana peppers with a butter garlic sauce on the side. My brother enjoyed it but thought it was a bit blah. I agree it should have had more peppers maybe add in a couple of red hot cherry peppers to give it a little kick. The garlic butter sauce was excellent but still the dish could have been better if it was a little spicier. My son's famous Seafood special didn't disappoint, 1/2 pound of pasta with a plentiful amount of seafood in a tasty clam sauce. A one pound version is also available , but half a pound is more than enough for one person. My brother's seafood casserole was tasty with, lobster, scallops, large or jumbo sized shrimp, scrod and crab in a seafood sauce with bread crumbs. He really enjoyed it but to his knowledge rated 2nd to an undisclosed restaurant that only he knows about. All in all we were very satisfied. The service was great. Our waitress was friendly, informative and prompt. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, the variety of food was excellent. The decor was cute, nothing elaborate but warm and friendly like a FAMILY restaurant should be. I had a side salad as one of my options with italian dressing. The salad was great, mixed greens and other garden delights but I would get something other than the Italian dressing it too was a little bland for my taste but I'm sure with a different dressing it would have been delicious. Aside for some minor condiment issues we were all very impressed with Jack's and I won't be delaying my return back. For quality food at a good price and a selection that provides something for Everyone, Go to Jack's you won't be disappointed, you'll...
Read moreI've been here 3 times , the first was good, the second was kinda bad, the third was awful. My bf and I waited an hour for our food. (The restaurant was not busy, there were only a few tables, but only one waitress) my bf got chicken parmesan and I got chicken piccata. After an hour wait, the chicken parm had a weird taste. The chicken itself tasted really sweet almost like it had gone bad and there was so much sauce which was very bland, the dish had no flavor or seasoning. The chicken piccata was drowned in sauce , it was like a soup, I had to drain the liquid in order to eat it and I seriously think there was close to 8oz of liquid that I drained. The chicken itself was just ok, not good. Not worth waiting an hour for, after picking at our food for 10mins our waitress came over and we told her our frustrations. She apologized and brought the dishes to the chef. She came back and said "the cook tasted both plates and said it was fine and she would eat it. So there's not much I can do besides take a few dollars off the bill" she ended up taking exactly $5.00 off the bill. We obviously didnt want to take the leftovers home since we didn't want to get sick from the chicken. And we still tipped 10% because the waitress deserved a tip still. We ended up paying with tip and their "discount" over 50 dollars for waiting an hour for inedible food. We obviously will never be going here again. I encourage the owners if they are reading this to do better and to listen to customers when they complain about the food. Saying "the chef said she would eat it" as an excuse is unacceptable. We obviously would have appreciated them taking more off the bill after the wait and the fact we barely ate the food, but the response to the complaint is the reason we wouldn't...
Read moreI will say one of many good things about this restaurant in Warren, RI, this place has stayed consistently good for many years and it's all of 30 years I have known and frequented this place. Food is prepared very nicely and with a boat load of flavor and at an affordable price. Very clean and well as the restrooms. I believe the entrance has been remodeled a bit, but the inside remains the same as I could remember. Bar is nice and simple, don't expect a "destination bar", as I like to refer to them. I am only be picky here, but a good looking bar is like selling a home, the kitchen is what people are focus on. The bar says a lot about a creative eye of the owner and should be inviting. But again, I am being picky. A lot of new restaurants in the area have diminished the crowd here as there were long lines on a Friday to get in. We walked right in without a wait. My advice is you try this place and you won't be disappointed. Wait staff is friendly and...
