This is more of like a response to Beth's comment (NHS parent, ya know) First off, they probably have a reason for cautiously treating teenagers like that. Of course, I have no proof whether they were just treating them like dirt, or they just said something and you decided to use connotative words, I can't judge that, and just because they were dressed in a formal-wear doesn't mean they're to be highly respected. Etc.. look at both sides of a story, etc.. Secondly, just because they're in NHS doesn't mean they're respected. I'm sure you know that NHS is a 'group' kind of thing, that promotes helping people, etc.. But NHS also looks good for colleges. So, that would attract some people who only feel the need to join NHS purely on the basis of college, and not the fact that NHS is for helping people. Thirdly, just because they're enforcing their own rules doesn't mean that they 'DISCRIMINATE'. If they decided to treat certain teenagers differently than other teenagers, I'm sure that would be discrimination. It's a similar logic to 'you must be this tall to ride' signs in amusement parks. Lastly, I love this place. It serves decent food for a decent price. I only rated three stars because I'd prefer...
Read moreWOW-so here goes! Stopped into National for Breakfast after traveling all night. Home for the Holidays, we couldn't wait to sink our teeth into warm tasty food on that chilly morning recently, and to our utter dismay that didn't happen!! I ordered eggs with cheese and 2 pancakes. My daughter ordered a Chili cheese dog and fries. Megan brought us out food... Everything was cold. The cold slice of cheese atop my eggs was an insult. The "cook" remade them but now the pancakes were cold. All the chili on the dogs and fries were cold. The disgust of it all. And when we addressed Megan politely she got loud and stormed off to get Mgr #2, who politely expressed sorrow at the situation and offered to comp the meal if we didn't want it remade!! Sadly, I no longer have National Coney Island saved under Favorites!! Tip#1: Use shredded cheese on eggs as it melts faster. Tip#2: If the eggs are cold, take the whole plate, recook the whole order and return it in it's entirety hot and edible. Tip#3:....
Read moreOnly giving 1 star because giving 0 isn't an option. My high school students are in NHS, on the honor roll- they're good kids. But everytime they walk in the door the staff and management of National Coney Island treat my kids and their friends like DIRT. They were refused service in September 2016 because they walked in wearing Warren Mott clothing. And tonight, dressed in formal wear, they were told that they all had to be on the same bill "BECAUSE THEY'RE TEENAGERS." I knew better than to leave before they were seated, so I walked in and asked to speak with the manager. He informed me that the restaurant policy isn't that they don't split checks. It's that they refuse to split checks when it's a table of teenagers. Even after being informed that over half are 18 he refused to treat them like any other paying customers. This restaurant DISCRIMINATES against customers based solely on their age. Do not waste your money on their...
