This library location is very clean, orderly and offers a variety of classes and activities. However, the library staff are very loud and disruptive. The library staff process the book returns roughly and loudly and also have very loud personal conversations, particularly at the front desk. Even at the backdesk area the staff talk very loudly with the patrons seeking copy, fax or scan services. It is extremely disruptive when you are trying focus on whatever book, magazine or work you're attempting to complete only to have the library staff talking at the top of their voices...I mean, this IS a library.
Also, recently after my library visit I remained in the Civic Center lobby to finish returning some emails on wifi. Just as I was packing up my pc and things to leave about fifteen minutes later, a man emerged from the library, peeled open the front library doors, looked at me crazy and murmered something to me as he slammed the library doors shut then quickly left. I was totally shocked!! How could the library staff not check the library before closing and leave a person in there?!?! This is not a huge library like the Detroit Main Library branch with multiple floors...this is a small library with one floor for patrons to use but the library staff were so focused on talking about their paychecks, personal matters and rushing to get outta there at closing that they left somebody up in there!! For those reasons, I will not return to this library branch again. My advice, replace the current library staff with fresh, new library PROFESSIONALS that actually care & respect...

I've had several unpleasant experiences at the Warren Civic Center Library that have left me feeling unwelcome and disrespected. On one occasion, I simply asked for assistance to connect to the internet so I could work while my child played, and the staff member responded in an incredibly rude manner, stating she needed to go to the back to cry - an incomprehensible and unprofessional response.
The atmosphere here feels distinctly unwelcoming to anyone who isn't white. There was another incident where I was in line to ask about a library card, and before I even spoke, a staff member remarked, "I'm going to have a problem," making unwarranted assumptions about me.
I've attempted to address these issues through follow-up calls, but my concerns have been met with indifference. After three years of these experiences, I've decided to move away from Warren, partly because of this library. My children love reading and playing at the library, but I can no longer feel comfortable bringing them here due to the consistent poor treatment and perceived racial bias.
In stark contrast, the St. Clair Shores Library has always provided a warm, welcoming environment. The staff there are friendly and helpful, making it a much more pleasant place to visit.
I am deeply disappointed and will not return to the Warren Civic Center Library. I hope this review serves as feedback for necessary changes, but based on my experience, I am not optimistic about any...
Read moreBeautiful library but awful staff. Came in to print some photos for a collage. It wound up being 20 pages for 10 dollars. The first three pages came out good but all the ones after that were blank, the only thing on the pages being gray squares. Asked for some assistance and an older woman (who was the only helpful, reasonable person there) helped me reprint my pages, which I had to pay for again (another 8 dollars). When I inquired about getting my money back for the first round of photos, I was directed to the frumpy, lonely looking supervisor, who blamed me for not noticing that the pages were blank soon enough (as if waiting for them all to print out before picking them up is such a crazy concept) and told me it was my responsibility to check the printer preview. It was my first time using this service, I was not aware that the printers were so unreliable, and lastly, if we’re gonna talk about responsibilities, isn’t it YOUR responsibility, as a supervisor no less, to make sure all of your machines are running correctly? It was giving someone who was bullied in high school and now uses instances like this to get her power high. And to top it all off, she acted like she was doing God’s work by giving me less than half of my money back. It’s not like I came up to her demanding my money back or being mean, I simply asked if there was anything she could do, yet the reaction I got was just incredibly...
