They do not deserve this one star; the place is terrible!
I took my two teenage kids to eat here on a Sunday afternoon. When we walked in the place was nearly empty, except for one table of two diners, and a party of four (two adults and two toddlers) ahead of us waiting to be seated. There were no staff on the floor or at the register.
A young man finally comes out and attempts to seat me and the kids, but I pointed out that the other ladies were there first. (The younger of the two women was obviously annoyed.) Strike one.
We are seated, and left alone, with no drink order taken. Strike two.
The young guy comes back to our table after running around the restaurant in a panicked state, and I couldn't help but wonder what was wrong with him, but decided to proceed with dining here. He takes our drink orders, and promptly tells me he can't put lemon in our waters when I request it, so I ask for limes instead. He says he will have to go to the kitchen to ask permission. (Wtf?) I tell him to bring the plain water. He starts to run off again, but I stopped him to put in an appetizer order...at a "normal" point of doing so, which any experienced waitstaff would know. Strike three.
We get our appetizer, but only half of it comes to us. I decided to exercise patience, but was getting a little annoyed here. Strike four.
Our entrees come before the table of women with the toddlers get theirs. The younger woman's eyes met mine, and I told her the young man waiter was terrible, and apologized to her for getting our food first, because he obviously put the the orders in backwards. Strike five.
My kids and I are sampling the different dishes we ordered by sharing with each other, and taking bites from each other's bowls. The teens are new to Thai food, and really don't know much about it, and pretty much picked their dishes randomly. (I was the only one with experience in this cuisine, and stuck to the same thing I usually order at other places.) Anyhow, the waiter guy comes back with a plate in his hands, and quickly says he gave my daughter the wrong order, takes the dish we all were just eating out of off the table, and sets the new plate down. My daughter was confused and shocked, but being new to this, she didn't realize she had the wrong food. I told the waiter we had eaten out of it, as he turned to walk away. (The lady with the toddlers overhears which dish was given to us by mistake, and tells me it was hers. The waiter ignores this.) The waiter then goes into the nearby kitchen door (across from our table) and comes back out within a couple seconds...he then carries what appears to be the same bowl of curry to the table with ladies and toddlers. My daughter and look at each other, and just "know" it was the same exact bowl of food we had eaten out of. Strike six.
Meanwhile, my other teen is looking down at his dish with a strange look on his face, and I asked what was wrong. He shows me a hair in his food that is obviously not his hair color. Strike seven.
The ladies with the toddlers are now very upset about their experience and food, and I overheard them complaining. The waiter tells them there is nothing he can do if their food was bad. Strike eight.
This is the exact moment everything blew up between my table, the table of ladies, and this inept waiter. He is telling us each he cannot comp food, nor will the kitchen staff make something new for my kid (which I was going to pay for, mind you; I just wanted the hairy dish comped). Strike nine.
I also told the ladies that I was positive they got the same dish that we had eaten out of, and they're livid with the waiter. He never once denied this accusation, btw. So, they walk out without paying, and I demand that the dish with the hair in it removed from my bill. After the waiter calls his boss or manager that is obviously MIA, I did get the comp. I also forgot to mention that we never got refills on water, nor were asked if we needed anything else in between times. The waiter was simply awful and I told him so.
I will never...
Read moreThe service was amazing. Very nice and prompt. The food was less than satisfying and expensive, especially for the quality and portion recieved. I've been to multiple Thai restaurants and I certainly know my thai food. Every place is a little different but to be 100% honest I feel that the decor, although pretty in it's own way, was cheaply made and the place looked a little ghetto; especially for the the Madison Heights area which I've found to be pretty nice especially considering it's not a high income area, that is the SES(socio-ecenomic status) of the city isn't very high. I've visited much better restaurants, visually and food wise, in lower SES/income areas, and the food cost less at those establishments as well. So all in all I will never eat here again, my partner and I were both very disappointed in the food and the price, which we would have been totally fine with the price if the quality of food was better. My noodles were not cooked properly, they were undercooked and all stuck together. Won tons were delicious, but scarce ( only 5 tiny wonton in the entire large soup bowl). And a complaint my lover had was with the salt and pepper shakers. I watched it happen, the pepper over-poured all over his food and the salt barely came out of the shaker. In my opinion... don't eat here and go somewhere else. Mays Banghkok Express in Ferndale is AMAZING. Fantastic food, low very reasonable prices and very friendly and accommodating staff. And it's a family business. Good day! Sorry Thai Kitchen, we wish your business success, I certainly hope things get better for the entire business and it's...
Read moreThe customer service here is atrocious, I say this as someone who’s worked in the restaurant industry on and off over the years. I never really write reviews and I wish that I could give it zero stars.
I called in a few weeks ago to place an order the person who took the order was incredibly rude, snapped at me and hung up on me when I asked for clarification on the order. I went in and addressed it very politely with the staff member who brought the food out. He completely ignored what I said the first time so I repeated myself again politely assuming that he just didn’t hear me. I again assumed that was the end of it and moved on, maybe it was a bad day or something. Called to place an order today and they blocked my number!
The food is alright but if you’re rude to customers, block numbers when customers bring up complaints and generally have a terrible attitude A. Why are you working there and B. How do you retain any customers, because judging by the reviews I’m not the only one. Good luck to those who go there but I’ll take my food without the side of...
