Incredibly disappointed by the chemicals in their bread

*Edited in response to response from the owner-

Considering they have been baking since 1958, I would expect them to know what should and should NOT be in flour.

Potassium Bromate (banned in several countries) Azodicarbonamide (another controversial "food additive" with wide-spread bans across the globe).

Those additives are used in "commercial" bread production eg mass produced grocery store brands & fast food breads- I would think a local bakery wouldn't reduce itself to using such dough conditioners and keep things purer and wholesome. Those ingredients certainly aren't in any flour I've ever used. I'm also fully aware that Riboflavin, Thiamine, etc are the vitamins/minerals present in enriched flour(s). I was never questioning those ingredients.

Perhaps it would serve Tringali's to do an Internet search of their own to see just exactly what Potassium Bromate and Azodicarbonamide are and find another flour to bake with.

The fact those additives are in their bread, I would suspect they are using the same flour for other baked goods as well- cookies, pies, pastries and alike. To anyone reading this, despite (potentially) never having a problem before and now knowing what those ingredients are, ask yourself "Would YOU be willing to feed your family/children food with those ingredients in it"?

As for elaborating on the hours/dates, it's been well over a year, possibly two, but I certainly know it wasn't a Monday; I remember leaving a message about it one of the times, but never heard anything back.*

I've been craving their crusty and chewy bread for the longest time, but after several attempts to go within thirty minutes after they opened, only to find the doors locked, I gave up. Fast-forward to today, as I was driving by, they were actually open when they were supposed to be.

I bought two loaves of their Italian Bread hoping to get the taste I haven't had in years only to find a structure like cheap store-bought breads. The ingredient list on the bags used to read: flour, water, yeast, salt- it was REAL bread. Now, the ingredient list reads like a science experiment; so much fake garbage that has no place in fresh bread is in this bakery's bread.

A "bakery" that can't manage to make REAL, fresh bread-...

October 20, 2024...called pre-suegeries (Wednesday & 2nd on Oct 29, 2024). Tried to pre-order 5 Italian subs (3 hardroll, 2 sesame)..the policy is/always will be...no credit card, "we throw the order away"...that was the 6 min. call, explaining, asking if you could at least write the order up and my 90 yr old relative (picking up on the day of October 30, i before lunch) can come in pay that morning before lunchtime, (I live far and need to do this now due to surgeries) ...he wont give a card over a phone ($7 subs x 5, $35..) NOPE, pay now or call bac.. so in 6 minutes, I tried & tried...how about you take the order from me ...2 surgeries before 11/30.....hard for me to call...not an option, can't even take just take that order under his name and phone (asked Nancy) tomorrow am, Monday, October 21, 2024 uncle come & pay a week early with his card...? NO, no solution...after 6 minutes of trying to find a simple solution, transferred for a still, flat, bottom line.. 2 min.. sub maker & manager... " This is upsetting, I am sick, getting ready for surgeries, can that work? Him pay even in person tomorrow morning 10/21/24..? I cant call back, husband at work, me at a early morning doctor pre-surgery .. Nancy: "Everybody has issues and I've been hear 15 years.." credit card now, to write it down. No to writing little $35 order, and tomorrow, 9 days before. He can pay in person??. NO, no card, no pen to paper. ..my grandparents would be shocked...ZERO customer service plus added sarcasm... My 40 years of recommending them is done. Have a great Halloween Nancy, sorry you were inconvenienced...I have a screen shot of the 8 min. and my husband was listening (on speaker)....

I have been enjoying tringali's for just over 30 years. I first tried it when my parents moved to this side of town. Now that I live in this area I've been enjoying it with my wife and daughter for over 10 years. With the exception of the deli counter everything there is top quality, fresh and exactly what you would expect from all the great reviews that you see. I've had several pastries, donuts, cookies and bread, including their awesome sesame seed sub buns which are the same sub buns used at tubby's submarines... I know this isn't a donut place but I have to say that they make the best donuts in the metropolitan Detroit area. There are no $5 donuts with weird toppings or ingredients served here. They have the basics, raspberry, lemon, butter cream, apple fritter, Cherry fritter, cinnamon, and plain donuts, but they are by far the best in the Detroit area. But if you really must have a donut with different ingredients and crazy toppings they will actually make special requests if you pre-order. And I can guarantee you it won't cost you $5 like the bakery's in other areas. They also have a full array of Italian buns and breads, pastas, sauces, and gelato in various varieties... By the way if you're looking for an Italian deli just go a couple miles up the road to Ventimiglio's on Dodge Park off 15 Mile road, exceptional...

Every area I end up in I am always on the look out for good Cannolis. While visiting another Mitchell Plastics Plant I learned of Tringali's Bakery in Detroit. Their building advertises as the Best Cannoli in Detroit. They offer a decent selection of Italian and American bakery items, bread, and cakes. I tried their Cannoli and I unfortunately was not overly impressed. It does have the ricotta in it but the flavors of the filling are overwhelming covered with the almonds on top and in the cream, as well as it had a soft shell instead a nice crisp shell. I give it a 4/10. I also tried their Edise which is a pastry puff filled with cannoli cream, deep fried, and sprinkled with powered sugar. This reminded me of some the breads from Japanes bakeries very light and fluffy with a cruchy exterior and the cannoli cream in it was good. I'd recommend these over their traditional Cannoli any day, best served slightly chilled. 8.5/10

The cake they made for my daughter's birthday was delicious. They did it on very short notice so they saved the day for this Mom. We got the graphic printed at Heinrichs in centerline, and Tringalies matched the colors to it perfect. They also added sparkly sprinkles and snowflakes to decorate the Frozen theme. My daughter loved it. We ordered the marble with buttercreme frosting and everyone asked me where I had the cake made from because they also said it was delicious. I will definitely order from them again!

This place was amazing. Looking forward to going back. The items were clearly made fresh. They were not overly sweet and it was great to see real Italian deserts. The mini cannolis were great. They have an amazing selection of sweets and breads. They also have a freezer of stuffed pastas, sauces, homemade bread crumbs, and other pastas. All the pricing was great and reasonable. I am cheap and did not see anything priced that I would not buy. Check them out but arrive early before they sell out.
