Corner Bakery Cafe — Restaurant in Warrenville

Tonight I ordered an Entree (larger) size Power Greens Caesar Salad with roasted shrimp to carry out. Before leaving I told the staff that I didn't see any parmesan cheese on the salad. They responded that they were out of it and was offered 2 alternatives. I would expect someone to tell me that one of the key ingredients of a Caesar salad is not available when I place the order so I have a chance to order something else.

Once I got home and took the salad out of the bag, it looked ridiculously small for a larger size salad. I called the Cafe to inquire and was asked if the container was square or rectangular (it was square). Plus the amount of greens was extremely sparse even in the smaller container.

I asked to speak with the manager, but was told he was on a call with another customer. They took my name and phone for him to call back. But no phone call now for 90 minutes and the store is already closed. Tells me a lot about current management of this location.

If you order to go at this cafe, and especially a salad, be sure to check it carefully...

Even late in the evening, Corner Bakery was open and had friendly service and a good selection of baked goods still available. The food came pretty quickly, too. I ordered pasta, and my husband had a sandwich; we split a baby Bundt cake (mmmmm.... chocolate), and we finished with plenty of time to make it to our movie, right across the parking lot. Good location, very convenient for our purposes that evening. It's a nice place for a casual meal, not terribly expensive, fairly clean and cheerful.

I like the Warrenville- themed decorations they have here. The pictures and signs all reference historic places around town. It's clear that they are true to their concept of being a neighborhood restaurant, even though it's a chain. I've been in this Corner Bakery at lunch a few times, and that's usually much more crowded than this evening was. So if you prefer to avoid the lunch rush but like the food here, try going in the evening, when you are in the neighborhood for a movie. It worked out...

Food is consistent and only reason I go back to this location.

Hours are never updated on google maps and seems like they close earlier and earlier.

If you plan on dining in an hour before close you can be assured to be sharing the dining room with dirty mop water/mop and employees doing everything they can to close the place down while you're sitting there eating including trying to take your plate twice while still chewing. The dining floor and service counter floor was being slop mopped while food was still being served.

2nd visit with similar experience: Memorial Day: arrived 1hr 20 min before close, to enjoy the back patio and sit in the warm sun instead of freezing AC only to find out its closed because the back section on the way outside had a dirty mop bucket across it. Even asked the workers and they gave song and dance that they need time to clean and have to close it early. Very disappointing.

If there were more vegetarian options at other restaurants in town I would not...
