Brought my wife here to celebrate her birthday. We were seated promptly but waited and waited for a server to come to our table. Then we waited and waited for the wine we ordered and some bread. Our salads were delicious once they finally arrived, but oddly we noticed that our menus were still sitting on our table as we were eating our salads. Again, we waited and waited for our entrees to be served. The entrees we ordered were large and quite delicious—very satisfying. As we then sat there hoping to see a dessert menu, we could not help but notice that customers who had arrived after us were already leaving. Our desserts were large and absolutely scrumptious. We washed them down with the last few remaining drops of our water, as no one had ever bothered to refill our water glasses during the two hours we sat at our table.
In summary, our food was superb, the prices were quite reasonable given the quality of the food, and the service—well, the service left a lot to be desired. It was a two-hour meal that should have ended at least a half hour earlier. We could not help but notice that our server was busy serving a large gathering of high-school students, and then later, a table of several birthday celebrants. She clearly had more customers to serve at one time than she could adequately handle, and the floor managers failed to notice that there was a service problem at our table. Hopefully, such inadequate service was a one-time aberration and not the new norm at Buon Appetito.
As for atmosphere, the recently expanded restaurant is quite large and attractively decorated inside. It’s much nicer (and less drafty thankfully) than the original restaurant next door. However, it’s also VERY LOUD! As we had been seated near to where a male singer was performing, this made it even harder for my wife and me to carry on a conversation. We both wear hearing aids and tried various settings to better hear each other talk, but to no avail. Struggling to carry on a conversation throughout our unnecessarily long two-hour meal took a lot of the glow off what was intended to be a happy and enjoyable birthday celebration. I can heartily recommend Buon Appetito to most friends looking for a good place to have Italian food. However, as much as we enjoy Buon Appetito’s amazing food, sadly it does not appear to be a suitable choice for hearing-impaired diners like my wife and me except maybe...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible experience! Owners attitude and lack of personal skills and accountability were unheard of. If you’re not a regular you’ll get treated like garbage. Common theme with the other bad reviews not just mine if scroll through the other ones. Made a reservation for 6:30, 40 minutes after our reservation time no table in sight and no sense of urgency to try to make something work.
Background story: I took my mother, dad and three young children out to dinner to this place, fully on the suggestion of my parents, to celebrate my mother’s 70th birthday. My parents were literally supposed to be in Italy on this day for a trip my sisters and I bought them for their 50th wedding anniversary and my moms 70th birthday. Unfortunately my dad developed serious blood clots in his legs and he was unable to travel so they had to cancel their trip. So here we are at Buon Appetito waiting 40 minutes past our reservation with two 4 year olds and a 6 year getting impatient, hungry and tired. We asked the owner’s wife what was going on and why it was taking so long if we had reservations. Her response was to immediately get an attitude and say “I can’t make them eat any faster”, rather than take accountability for lack of management. Anyone in the restaurant industry knows waiting 40 minutes beyond a scheduled reserved time is solely on the restaurant and unacceptable. This place was one of my parents new favorites and they literally bought a $100 gift card there a few weeks ago. It’s very disappointing to experience service like this when there are so many great restaurants options. Never got to try to food because we left immediately after that unprofessional encounter by the owners wife. I fully expect a negative reply to this review from the restaurant trying to flip the situation around on us to avoid any type of...
Read moreI don’t take any pleasure in leaving poor reviews but last night was a huge disappointment. This was our first time eating inside there after they expanded into a full sit down restaurant. I will start with the positive, the main bartender who was serving us was a rockstar and was busting her butt getting everything done during the busy dinner rush and I complimented her on her amazing job. Also, our calamari appetizer was very good. Now for the negative. We were told 15 min wait for a table for 2 and we were fine with that and decided to have a drink at the bar while we waited. It was 30-40 minutes before they called our name and by that point we already ordered drinks and were eating our appetizer at the bar so chose to just stay there. Our main dishes were not good at all. We used to love it and ordered all the time when it was a carry out spot. This time my pasta dish that is supposed to have a red sauce with white wine was so dry and bland I could not finish half. We ordered espresso afterwards and the creamer was expired by 3 months and the little chocolate covered coffee beans expired in November 2023. I’m very sad to say I don’t think we will be back which is a great shame because we love supporting local businesses in Romeo. The long wait, fine, our fault for coming during the Friday dinner rush. But the food was sorely lacking in comparison to the cost. Really really sad about this one. Highly recommend the bartender though. Super friendly and hard working. Owners, if you see this, whatever you do don’t lose her! (And throw out and replenish your...
