Your point of sale machine does not itemize the charges. I chose 18% on the total. Later, I see your machine included the debit card fee in my tip calculation. In other words it applied my 18% to the debit card fee. I paid a tip on a debit card fee. That is the deception here.
6 days ago: Answering Cafe Merlino’s reply to my question: I believe the pos tablet said “total”. To which I added 18% tip. The total was not itemized on the tablet. Only after reviewing my printed receipt I discovered 18% was calculated to include the credit card fee and tax. That means your computer added 18% to the food, the soda, the credit card fee, and the tax. I (and many others) don’t think your computer should calculate the tip on the credit card fee and tax. And second question: Should my debit card have been charged a use fee the same as a major credit card?
My initial question: Is it customary for the point of sale tablet here to calculate the tip on top of the credit card fee and on top of the tax? Two cheesesteaks, one fries, one $2 side, one root beer, 18% tip = $60. I don't recall seeing this on...
Read moreWanted to like this place but first impressions weren’t great at all. $40 for two sandwiches that were okay. The hot roast beef sandwich was extremely salty. The Goomba cold sandwich didn’t have any capicola on it and they put mozzarella cheese instead of provolone. The cold cuts that were on the sandwich were skimpy. There was more cheese than meat.
Their menu prices are not correct. Hot roast beef is listed at $16 and they charged $20. The Goomba sandwich is listed at $15 and they charged $17. Adding cheese to hot roast beef is listed at $1.90 and they charged $2.25. That’s over $6 extra and I had to point it out to them. They did not say anything before I ordered.
When my food came out, they slipped me $2 in cash which basically covered the 3% card fee they charge that they also never mentioned when I ordered.
Maybe it was an off day, so giving 3 stars. Don’t let this deter you from trying them. Everyone has different tastes. Just be aware of the prices and double check with them before ordering. It’s a...
Read moreCame in on a whim because my friend and I wanted something quick in the area, ended up getting the jersey devil.
Mind you I’d usually be hard pressed to pay $16-17 for a sandwich, (there are cheaper options dw) but it looked interesting. And I’ve fallen victim to boujee pricing before but as another review said this is worth every penny. Best sandwich I’ve had this year or the last really.
Felt like I was doing too much asking for a side of jus to go with it, but needed to try it with the sandwich already being so good. Even though it was just past opening, guy behind the counter was happy to oblige and I’m glad I did so. 10/10
Genuinely can only say I’ve only felt so impassioned to speak about a place a handful of times in my life, let alone a modest spot like this. That said, it’s nearly an hour drive for me to make, but I’ll be coming...
