Read moreGreat choice for a quick, casual breakfast with a slight twist on the classic egg sandwich! Cracked Eggery's menu boasts more than ten egg sandwiches served on the softest, richest challah bread and with a variety of toppings ranging from fried green tomatoes and bacon to smoked salmon and cream cheese. If you're not in the mood for bread, they also have phenomenal bowls. I usually opt for their Bittersweet Symphony, which, as the name implies, balances out a slightly bitter bite from the arugula with hot honey and peach jam. They round out the dish with a generous helping of roasted butternut squash, quinoa, and creamy ricotta, as well as, of course, a perfectly fried egg. If I want a bit more greenery in my breakfast, I also love their Everyday I'm Brusselin', which includes roasted brussels sprouts, sweet potato, quinoa, arugula, and balsamic vinaigrette (think Sweetgreen Harvest Bowl but for breakfast).
However, regardless of which sandwich or bowl you order, you have to get their tots -- they're smashed to maximize the surface area for a nice, crispy shell, and they pair beautifully with any seasoning you choose to pair them with.
They have a few tables where you can enjoy your tots and sandwich / bowl, as well as a long row of barstools along the window. The service is speedy and friendly, and it's the perfect spot for either a quick dine-in breakfast...
Read moreIf only I could give 0 stars or below. I use to be an advocate and frequent customer of Cracked Eggery Shaw DC. Now, I will never return. During my recent visit here I ordered what I normally eat “St. Elmo’s Fire” w/o scallions as I am allergic. With short time to grab lunch due to a training I placed my ordered, asked if everything could be dropped fresh to include tots. With little time to spare, I grab my food and sprint back to work only to get there, join my training and the are SCALLIONS on my food. The tots were below lukewarm, cheese not melt, the chicken was warm but different type of chicken than previously. One could only imagine how frustrated I was because I emphasized no scallions and dropped fresh many times when checking out. I ended up giving the food away then reached out to info@crackedeggery.com several times since 10/29 with NO RESPONSE or customer care considering a customers allergy and experience at this establishment. I really wish the old staff were there still. Not to mention, a customer bought a big dog with him. One of the workers prompted the dog to get on the serving counter, he’s patting and scratching the dog them goes to make a Uber eats/doordash order WITHOUT washing his hands or wiping off the counter. The total disregard for my experience...
