(tl;dr at bottom)
With all of the Mexican restaurants in Washington we were sincerely hoping this one would be a much needed change. That it would take the place of best Mexican is Washington. To us, it has, and by a long shot. Walking in they were noticably busy so we expected a little wait. For a fairly new restaurant they were running very smoothly. We were seated right after we got to the front of the line. Sitting down and looking around you could tell that they put some care into the painting and decorum of the place. Immediately a lady walking around with chips and salsa brought us fresh bowls of chips and salsa. A lot of salsa from other restaurants have an acidic taste that's bitter because of the tomatoes. This one was a very good mixture of that, sweetness, saltiness and spice. The chips were hot, fresh and very tasty. The waitress came shortly after and took out order consisting of a bowl of cheese dip, two entrees and two mixed drinks. She brought the cheese dip out and it was some of the best cheese dip we have had. Definitely could taste the cheese versus other dips that are mostly cream. When the entrees came out mine was wrong. They were very polite and helpful to get the correct item. The next plate was perfect and came out quick enough I appreciated the speed but not so fast I worried about if it was a reheated plate. The food was very delicious. The guacamole salad was cold, fresh and had plenty of guacamole and sour cream. The drinks came out while we were eating the entrees. They were very well mixed though a tad on the heavy handed side but were still very good. Overall we enjoyed the place. Atmosphere, food, drinks, people, all of it was a good experience. We will definitely be visiting again!
Tl;Dr- Very good food, service, drinks and atmosphere. Out of all Mexican in Washington it has easily taken our favorite. Even with a mixed up entree it was a very good experience and will go back and recommend...
Read moreA disappointment to say the least. We were without a server for about 40 minutes, after asking countless times for one, only to have the manager âtryâ and take our drink orders (also failing to do so, as he tried arguing with us after he had brought out the wrong drink, telling us to our face âOh no, you didnât say that, you said you wanted this one; thatâs what you saidâ). After countless times trying to find a server, we once again went up to the front to try and get someone to help us, where we were met with a young girl with a very rude attitude and acted like we were a bother to her by simply asking for a waitress. Her response was âOh, well weâll get somewhere there as soon as we can (In a rude tone, too. Not nice and respectful by any means). Iâve worked in the restaurant business. If you donât want to work or donât have the correct attitude to do so, then donât. Itâs not fair to the customers that want to have a nice meal and that PAY for their meal and, hopefully, an enjoyable visit. We were blessed by a very nice server who went out of his way to serve us (out of his section), so we were thankful. However, this is the last time we will be coming to this restaurant. They were obviously not ready or prepared to open, and need a large amount of training. If you think you can deal with all of the above then, please, be my...
Read moreWe came here after watching our Grandchildren's Solina dance production recital at the Turnage Theater to celebrate the birthdays of 2 of our Grandchildren Kareena & Amauri. It is a nice little authentic Mexican restaurant conveniently located in downtown Washington, NC, at a stripmall with plenty of parking. We love the cozy atmosphere, the Indigenous decorations, the clean restaurant, and the great service. Our waitress was attentive, knowledgeable, and good-natured. The food was fresh, delicious, well portioned, and delectably flavored. The chips and salsa were delicious and had just the right amount of kick to it that children enjoyed. We were a party of 12, so I will only describe what I ordered. I had the pineapple Aguas fresca, which was a light, sweet, and incredibly refreshing drink. I also ordered grilled chicken, grilled steak, and grilled shrimp fajitas with bell peppers, tomatoes, and onions. It was served with guacamole salad, rice, flour tortillas, and refried beans. Our meals came out quickly, well cooked, nicely plated, and delicious! I highly recommend...
