Over a few visits to the island the past few years, I was always intrigued by this place having been told to visit; but I never managed to pass by while they were open.
Now local (NFI), I've had the pleasure of their conversation all to myself on a rainy Saturday afternoon, and their last cup of Cassoulet with a fresh juice back. It's refreshing to have such a small dose of hearty stew be so energizing and satisfying. I wasn't compelled to have my lemon tart dessert before leaving, but to be honest it didn't last an hour in my icebox after the first taste got my attention :)
These folks clearly work hard to be open every hour that they can; the prices are great -- local/raw/organic eVeRYTHiNG as possible, and a variety of options.. menu standards and a daily special.
It is PaTRoNaGe which will allow them to be open longer, more days, and over time change the menu and see enough economies such that it can affect their operating costs. It takes multiple islanders juggling the keys to the kitchen.. and while waiting for killer clean food isn't something anyone necessarily wants to do, I'd have stood in a line for 20 minutes in the rain to get in the door if it meant Pure was getting that kind of business on a weekend in December. As it was, I still got their last cup of Cassoulet -- what does that tell you?!?
Come to this kitchen; they'll treat you right.....

But for $15, you'd think there would be some seasoning in the grains or the beans. They are so plain and flavorless. Each element in a Buddha Bowl should have some flavor. Also, the salad is not chopped or cut so it makes it difficult to eat. The beet ribbons are a tiny portion and also difficult to eat because they leave them so long. The avocado portion is tiny. I also got a smoothie and it was frozen. For $10, it would've been nice to get a freshly prepared product. I really wanted this place to become a regular spot for me but unfortunately...
Read moreWe moved off the island to the east coast almost 12 years ago and Pure was one of my favorite places to get clean, healthy delicious food. Used to walk miles with a toddler on my back. We sold our home to RV full time and one thing I was most excited about was eating here again.
I was so bummed to see it was a new restaurant until I checked the menu and saw the same Buddha bowls on the menu. I was even more overjoyed to see it’s still owned by Stephanie!
Everything was just as I remembered-absolutely delicious! Definitely recommend trying the sorghum! Please support this...
