We came to this place as a group of 4, and as we entered, we were not greeted by a receptionist for 15 minutes and were later told to move aside into the cramped hallway by one of the managers but given no other instructions. After a while the four of us we were seated at a table meant for two people and though we acknowledged it was a busy evening, we still asked the waiter if we could be given more table space when others had left. She agreed, and after she took our order, it took them 20 minutes to bring 1 dish which we devoured in a minute. They kept bringing out 1 dish at a time, waiting 10-15 minutes in between. We eventually complained about the slow food because we had been sitting there for about an hour now and only had eaten 3 dishes. Let me remind you that this is dim sum and portions are smaller, and we each would be paying $50 for all this.
Eventually another table opened up, but the manager himself denied us more table space until we asserted to them just how little space we had and the discomfort we were in, which should have been terribly obvious. Some more dishes arrived later but they never brought out everything we had ordered, so we ordered again. This time we ordered more food since we were quite hungry still at this point. We could see the waiter just scribbling something and she definitely wasn't writing everything down. At some point while we were ordering, the waiter just started walking away mid sentence. We asked her to come back and she asked us to wait to order more. We felt like she was trying to rip us off and make us eat as little as possible while still paying the total $200 and some more with their 20% gratuity policy for groups of 4. Eventually they brought out more food, and at one point the waiter told us that if we couldn't finish, we'd be charged double and walked away with a smirk. We proceeded to stuff ourselves.
Later two of us went to withdraw cash and another went to the bathroom, and just one of my friends were at the table. The waiter came up and had the audacity to ask if we would be paying for today. By the end of this I went up to the waiter at the counter to tell her I'd like to speak with her about the unacceptable service we had. Instead of listening to me, she scurried over to our table and asked what's wrong, as if I wasn't there! When we all expressed our dissatisfaction, the manager came in to defend her by saying his staff hasn't eaten since the morning and that they were cranky. He was really agitated, as if we as customers should understand and have empathy. The waiter also chipped in and said she was joking about threatening to double charging us. We expressed that they didn't deserve the 20% gratuity due to poor service, but the manager just grabbed one of the menus and pointed at the line saying the gratuity is part of "policy". Absolutely unacceptable. We felt like we were treated like a party of 2 kids. They made a scene of themselves and of us for the entire remaining people who were still eating. And we were having to pay well over $200 total for this experience.
I can't emphasize how terrible and unprofessional the service here was. I have never been to a restaurant, expensive or cheap, good food or bad food, where the waiter and even the manager disrespects their customers to such an extent. Don't take a chance coming here. It's not worth your time and sanity, and it certainly isn't worth your money because you'll never know when the staff are going to show their...
Read moreHan Palace doesn’t have enough vegetarian options for dim sum and just a few options for main entrees. My partner and I came for dinner on a Friday night, arrived early around 5:00 and had terrible service despite arriving early in the evening. After already having few options to choose from we ordered the scallion pancake, the mapo tofu, and crispy eggplant. We waited for about 10 minutes until we were given a menu, then ordered 10 more minutes after that. Once we finally ordered two dishes came out- the scallion pancake and the mapo tofu. First, the scallion pancake order comes with two quarters of a scallion pancake for $7. Then, we had to specifically ask for rice to go with the mapo tofu and received a small bowl the size of my fist. We shared the mapo tofu and by the time we finished it 20 minutes later we hadn’t received the crispy eggplant. 10 minutes later we asked about the status of our dish, which we were told was “being prepared” then 20 minutes later when we still hadn’t received the crispy tofu (after waiting for a total of 50 minutes after ordering) we asked for the check so that we could leave and go about our Friday night after wasting so much time waiting for food. Right after someone brought our check (for just the mapo tofu and scallion pancake) we received the food. They took our credit card and charged us for all three dishes without notifying us that was what they would be doing. We were very displeased with our experience and wanted to just leave so we had to void that charge and re-ring it up for the original charges. What a waste of a Friday night! Although the atmosphere here is decent, it’s cramped and the food and the service really soured...
Read moreTLDR: HORRIBLE SERVICE. food was decent but service was AWFUL. Server was incredibly rude and management does not care. Try another dim sum place!
It took us 20 mins to be seated as we waited in the small entrance that was unattended. After our party of 4 was seated at a small cramped 2ft by 2ft table, it took our server 15 mins to ask what we wanted to order. After ordering, the food came out slowly one by one and our table couldn’t fit more than 1 plate at a time. Our server was a decently tall Asian lady with her hair tied back into a bun. During our second round of ordering, we wanted to order more because we were digesting the food faster than they could serve. Our server kept trying to walk away while we were ordering and we kept saying we weren’t finished yet as she kept scooching away. She said “can you guys just order it later”. Multiple items were missing from each order and we had to repeatedly ask for it again. The server then proceeds to say “if you guys can’t finish it, I will charge you double” with a sly smirk on her face. It was clear that we weren’t the only table experiencing her poor service as the table behind us asked if they could order and she just straight up ignored them.
We were offering to pay the bill but not the required 20% because the server genuinely did not deserve it. If we were to pay the mandatory tip I hope it goes 100% to the chef. We then spoke to management and the manager just kept saying “you know the servers haven’t eating since breakfast! That’s why they’re a bit cranky.” THATS NOT OUR PROBLEM???!!! Why are you guys not giving your workers proper breaks and food?! Also guess what? We did finish our food. Never...
