The food is excellent but the service is bad. I ordered food for delivery close by to the store and the driver did not deliver it to the correct location. I thought, easy fix, I’ll call the restaurant, which I did 6 times in 30 min only to have no one pick up the phone, all the while getting hangrier. I called the other two stores and although they picked up no one I spoke to could reach them either. I have worked at a similar bakery with 3 locations and excellent service and this would not have happened there, because cell phones exist. It was lowkey infuriating. Esp bc at their urging and advertising on my last bagged delivery, I ordered directly from their website this time and not from the delivery apps for them to avoid fees. Because of this, there was no help link to report the issue or resolve it immediately. Instead I called 6 people, none of whom helped me reach the Georgetown location, as if this were a large chain and not a local place with 3 locations where the managers hopefully know each other’s phone numbers. Finally after 3 voicemails and 6 calls, I had to eat something else from somewhere else. Then I get a call from a rep who apologized, blamed it on DoorDash, did refund me, but would not replace or reorder it on my behalf on their end or offer me a coupon or anything to ensure it didn’t happen again. Ghosting during non peak business hours or not being able to get ahold of 1/3 of your 3 locations for whatever reason such as this constitutes bad service. What made me the hangriest was how much I love their food and really wanted it. Now I will think twice about eating there with the frequency I have been because that’s how frustrating this was. I will not be ordering from their website directly again for delivery. I feel like if a small business messes up, they should take responsibility and make you wanna come back with the some incentive or at least replace the food order which they did not. Small businesses that show they value me with excellent service and making up for mistakes is what keeps customers coming back, and this was not that. The mistakes were blamed on DoorDash and comcast respectively and no attempt was made to rectify my hunger or the amount of time and stress and money...
Read moreI really used to love this store, I lived around the area and used to stop by at least 3 times a week and recommend it to everyone. Unfortunately a year from now, the quality of the bread and the items they buy had been constantly decreasing in quality. To sweeten and stir your coffee before you used to have wood sticks or paper straws with different types of sugar, now, you must use a plastic spoon or plastic straw with refined sugar. Moreover, the bread is rarely fresh. This morning I stopped by to get a coffee and some bread, and sadly the bread of the Suisse and the Ham and Cheese croissant was so soggy that you could easily tell it was really old. It is sad to see that a store that had so much potential is no longer focused on quality, as it used to. Now, I don't feel comfortable recommending it to anyone nor I fee comfortable eating there as often...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing experience! I stopped in on Halloween and ordered a few different baked goods — every single one was fresh, fluffy, and so tasty. They had a fun spin-the-wheel event for Halloween prizes, and I actually won a free baguette! Since I’m not from DC, I passed it along to the lady behind me, and she thanked me and mentioned she comes here all the time — which says a lot about how loved this place is.
The Crogel was to die for. I got the Salmon Lox, and it was perfect — the salmon wasn’t overly salty, just smooth and flavorful.
I’d 100% recommend this bakery to anyone visiting from out of town. I always try to avoid tourist traps, and this was definitely not one of them. Everything felt genuine, welcoming, and made with care. I really hope this bakery keeps thriving — it deserves all the...
