This restaurant must have changed management, as my experience in 2021/2022 was outstandingāexcellent service, delicious food, and an overall great vibe. However, my most recent visit over the weekend was a complete disappointment. The honey garlic chicken was awful, with more breading than meat and an unpleasant flavor. The spicy chicken teriyaki was overly fatty and lacked any actual spice. My friend ordered the bento box but was given the wrong dish entirely. As for the shrimp teriyaki, it consisted of just four tiny shrimp with little flavor.
What really soured the experience was the rude attitude from the waitress at the counter. When we returned with the wrong order, she tried to belittle and embarrass us in front of other customers. She insisted that I was lying about receiving the wrong order, even suggesting that we ate part of it and only brought back half. In reality, they gave us the wrong order to begin with, so of course, we returned it. She then arrogantly asked, "So what exactly do you want me to refund?" To top it off, when I got home, I realized she only refunded part of the amount.
After reading more recent reviews, Iāve learned that this attitude is typical for her, and she often talks down to customers. Apparently, she is the owner now, so if you decide to visit, be prepared to be treated poorly.
Overall, this was an incredibly disappointing experience. My friend who was visiting from Seattle left feeling let down, and I certainly wonāt be returning. If you're looking for a pleasant atmosphere with good food in Puyallup, then let me be the first to tell you: This is definitely NOT the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been coming to this location for over 30 years. I havenāt been for a few years and my kid was really craving teriyaki so we made the drive to Puyallup for a little nostalgia. I donāt think this place is managed by the same people. The place looks pretty much the same but possibly under new management. The older woman who worked here for many years was not here. I didnāt recognize any of the usual staff. There is another woman behind the counter tonight. She was busy getting things done. She is loud and capable, but could rub people the wrong way. She means well, but I think things get lost in translation. For example this evening a customer ordered food through DoorDash and came to pick it up. The woman behind the counter tried to tell the customer it would be $20 cheaper to order through the store directly instead of paying for in-store pickup through DoorDash. The woman behind the counter came across loud and bossy. The customer left upset and obviously confused. The woman behind the counter said she just wanted her customers to not pay extra money. The food tonight is different than it had been all the years Iāve known this place too. Everything is saucy, even the teriyaki. Still has a good taste and good sized portions, just different. The woman behind the counter was juggling online orders, phone orders, walk-in orders and table service. Our drinks were refilled twice and our food came out quick and hot. Bathrooms were clean, restaurant was clean. Tonight is Thursday and there was a lot of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst of all, for the prices of the food, I expected better. Maybe the economy is making them take more of a hit, who knows. Its just too much for what we paid for. Closer to $20 than $10 for one single person meal. A lot of food, though, which makes up for the prices.
My gma and I decided to try this place out because I DD and picked up food here a few times and it seemed popular.
The lady up front is fine, but clearly doesn't want to be there? Don't know, not really my business. Would just recommend trying to appear like you are there and not slacking off on your phone within sight of customers. Just doesn't look professional. There was only one other group dining in besides us doing take out.
Now the food. It was okay. We got it really quickly which is both cool and concerning. The yakisoba was the weirdest tasting yakisoba noodles I have ever had. There was this weird like nutmeg or cinnamon taste to them? I dont know, but it was oddly spiced and sweet almost. Not to mention just one singular broccoli? Seems to be a theme with other reviews. The teriyaki looked like cooked chicken with sauce dumped on top. Not charred/grilled like i usually expect for chicken teriyaki. (Forgot to take a photo, oops). But the salad and rice was good.
Would i recommend? No. Would i come back?...
