I got The Fatty with turkey bacon, corned beef hash, over easy egg, American cheese, tomato, raw onion, hot peppers, and pickles on English muffin. I also got scrambled egg with American cheese. The Fatty=amazing! The turkey bacon was the best I have ever had. Thick, savory, and wide belts of it, not crispy unbendable pieces. This was not some thin sad turkey bacon, it was HEARTY. I love they had an alternative to pork product, and the turkey bacon was only an extra 50cents. Corned beef was also really good, rich and very flavorful. Slice of tomato and raw onion are hard to mess up lol, those were perfectly fine. And I enjoyed the hot peppers--they have a kick! You need to be okay with spicy for these, I loved them. There were only a few thin slices of pickle. The egg was overcooked, the yolk was almost hardboiled texture, no run at all. The lighter brown part sticking out of the sandwich is the egg (darker brown parts are turkey bacon or corned beef hash). As for the cheese, it was like someone dipped the back of a spoon in cheese dip and lightly rubbed it on the English muffins the yellow in the photo is the yolk after being bitten into. But, overall it was fantastic and was absolutely stuffed! The other ingredients spilling out, I was so happy about that. It was so big I got two meals out of it. I will say the scrambled egg with cheese were a really paltry portion, and I couldn't detect any cheese. It was less than $1.75, a little pricey for a single egg or two but not outrageous. I will 100% be ordering again. If not today lol. I'd be more than thrilled to get The Fatty again, and hope for more cheese and runnier egg. And would skip the side order of scrambled eggs. But def am going to be a repeat customer! Absolutely recommend it.

I’ve been meaning to hit this breakfast spot for a while now!! I drive by this place several times a week. Some of you have pressed me out to get here…guess what? I’m glad you did!! . Where I am: @normasbreakfastdc . Location Reviewed: 3710 Minnesota Ave., N.E. Washington D.C. . Menu Includes: *See Instagram* . Items Reviewed: The Fatty (with 2 meats of your choice, turkey sausage, & turkey bacon, 2 choice cooked eggs-fried with American cheese, & your choice of bread-French toast $10). STAMP!! Thick, well cooked, savory & sweet!! Their Hall of Famer ( with pancakes, 2 sausage patty’s, bacon, 2 eggs, & cheese grits $15). STAMP!! Fluffy huge soft cakes, perfect bacon, sausage, & eggs…the grits…DELICIOUS. Just a little bit more flavor was needed in the grits. Their Triple Mix (with lemonade, ice tea, & fruit punch $3.25). STAMP!! Classic, cold, & tasty!! Their Half n Half (half lemonade, ice tea $3.25). STAMP!! Classic again!! Their Homefries (with onions, Mumbo sauce, & peppers $3). STAMP!! This was my 3rd time coming to Norma’s and we have gotten the same thing each time. For context, our visits have been about 2-3 months apart. Unfortunately, the consistency hasn’t been there with the food. Staff has been great everytime. 1st time- great!. Everything looked and tasted good. 2nd time- ok. 3rd time- hate to say it but terrible!! We were so disappointed in the presentation and the taste of the food. The Gilbert’s Shrimp & Grits was soupy and runny and the presentation looked a mess. Also got the waffle and four wings. The chicken was overcooked, looked and tasted burnt on parts and we didn’t eat it because of the taste. The waffle was the only thing that we wanted to even eat and finished. Total waste of $32. Would have given 2 stars for the food but I hate to do that based on one really bad experience so the 3 stars takes all the experiences into consideration. I want to continue to support local black owned business but hoping that the standard and quality they started out with returns or else I won’t be able to. Happy to update the review the next time I go to see if there is an improvement.
