Perry's Vashon Burgers — Restaurant in Washington

There’s writing inside on the chalk board that says “go woke, go broke”. Unfortunately, you will also go broke when you plaster your illogical, bigoted beliefs as a huge welcome sign. We stopped by because we were looking for a good spot to eat on our visit to Vashon and Perry’s seemed promising. I should have known from the second we started up the path to the door when we saw their vandalized American flag on display that this is not a place we’d want to take our business. A whiteboard in the window says “Jesus loves you”, but once you step foot inside, the absence of Christ-like love is palpable. Written on the chalkboard in big writing is some of the most idiotic, hateful remarks. Now, I could have ignored this on a community chalkboard where everyone is allowed to share their thoughts, but the fact that this chalkboard is hanging above the order window lets me know that these are intentional messages from the owner or employees. I come from a red state, so I am more than used to seeing messages I don’t agree with, and have even patronized businesses that I know are owned by those who believe differently than me, and I am not easily offended. However, I was absolutely appalled by what I saw today. At the very least, please stop taking the Lord’s name in vain. You do not represent Jesus. Jesus loves all and God did not send him to earth to condemn (John 3:17), so I’m pretty sure He didn’t send y’all to. I hope you’ll reconsider how you represent yourselves, Christ, and Vashon Island. Perry's is an experience in Americana! Old fashioned burgers, that you can watch being prepared, while catching up on what's going on in town with Phil the owner. Phil named Perry's for his son with whom he works side by side. When K2 moved to China and took four hundred jobs from out community of eleven thousand households, Phil rented this little shack of a building and turned it into a Vashon institution. Ask for grilled onions and watch as Phil creates his little masterpieces in front of you. AND the fries are good too! Most disappointing money I spent on the island. Visiting a week for work and wanted to grab a bite out, guess I picked wrong. The food cost more than double what was listed on its prices. Was hoping to take a seat and relax with my food, but it seems the owner decided to sell all of his chairs and tables to buy extra Trump merch instead. If you’re hoping to listen to some music and tune out while waiting an extraordinary amount of time for your overpriced food, too bad, it’s just Trump rallies over the speakers.
