So this is my friend's neighborhood bar. He lives and breaths this place. I do not share the same opinion hehe.
I can see it being a great place to go snag a drink and/or an unhealthy dinner when you don't have anything else going on at home and you live within walking distance, but I don't bother wasting a trip that far to go to this place.
I want to give it good props b/c he loves it, but I just can't. It's average at best. I will say that the new upstairs addition, plus air conditioning, is a great thing they've done. The new bus upstairs for the bar is interesting and so are the bus seats along the wall to sit on. The beer selection is fair but they do have Dale's PA, so that's a plus.
The food is average but it's a small pub in the middle of nowhere. I don't expect Boston Market quality here. They do make cheese steaks with wiz though :) and I appreciate that. Burgers are OK but cheap, too. Most things at this place are actually cheap.
Now, with all that said, if you want an amazing place to people watch then check out trusties. You may even be part of the 'people' you watch. We went here one day with said friend and my roommates and, while lounging around with a few beers, were approached by a middle aged woman. Let's be honest here and just call her a cougar. Yes, a cougar approached us. Not the first time, wont be the last, but this was unique. She knew the bartender, which I forget who it was that night, BUT, she had received some cheese from said gentleman. That cheese was in her hand. She had also had a few adult beverages by the time she approached us. This is where the entertainment happened. She had a few sentences with us and then proceeded to force-feed said cheese to us. I managed to escape the onslaught but my two roommates were not as lucky. They were forced to eat stale american cheese bits from a random cougars hands. Needless to say they both never venture to this place anymore. I still enjoy going with my friend from time to time but it is very rare.
If you happen to see a semi attractive cougar in a green dress holding some cheese, do yourself a favor and evacuate...unless you're a huge fan of american cheese and fingers...
Read moreI love this neighborhood bar. When I need to get out of the house and have a drink, I know they will take care of me with a strong gin and tonic. And what other bar will serve you craft beer out of a half of a school bus?
There is good open-air seating upstairs and a small space outfront.
And for the more social among us, Trivia Tuesday is always a good time (during Pre- and Post-pandemic times).
While there are no frills here, they will take care of you and let you be.
One thing I would love to see is more focus on food. The burgers are mediocre and the nachos are drowned in toxic cheese product. The club sandwich and BLT are decent. It would be great if they could get a fryer so we could get some fries instead of potato chips.
Glad to have this dive bar in the neighborhood, and I hope to continue going long after the...
Read moreChecking in at Trusty's is a wake up call if you're in your 30s (I just turned 30). Yelp will tell you it's a popular place for 30 year olds. Why? Maybe it's because there's two floors of seating and it isn't crazy loud like some of those bars where 20 year olds hang out. :)
They have a good beer list (They also sell Jack's hard cider if you're into that). The food is basic, but good. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and it hit the spot! Nothing fancy, but very tasty.
The top floor has a room off the side for events and the main bar area is in a yellow school bus adding to the unique, dive bar feel to it. Every corner has games for patrons to enjoy including Cards Against Humanity.
Trusty's is a local...
