Came from Florida to visit my daughter and on 7/18 we went to the Eastern Market. It was great, I thought the experience would continue when we stopped here for lunch. Not what I call a brunch. Everything had eggs. I opted for the Breakfast Burger $10.95,my daughter the Smoked Gouda Mac& Cheese $8.95, 1 lemonade $2.75, 1 ice tea $2.75, with sales tax $2.45 we paid my debit card $27.94 (Or SO I THOUGHT) . Yesterday when I arrived home I checked my bank account and this place billed me $33.08 ( that was a $5.14) which was taken from my card. I do not tip with the card because you never get that final receipt. I always pay the tip in cash which I gave to the waitress, Barbie, so why would I give another 20%+ tip to a place, where the food was terrible. I ordered a med/well hamburger it came uncooked in the center. I only ate the sides. Waste of money for this meal and the service was snooty. We did not complained, I was too apprehensive to do so, as we all know what happens if your food is taken away and replaced with another! HERE IS A WARNING If you go to this place, make sure you get the final copy of the receipt. I wanted to call this morning, but there is no address or phone numbers on the receipt I have. Why would they not show this on...
Read moreMy office is next door to this spot but I've never checked it out until today. Soon as I set foot on their side of the sidewalk, the server told me I could not bring in the acai bowl that I bought at the farmers market going on right in front of them. I explained that I would be ordering food for two other people as well and that the bowl was almost done amd that I would sit outside by the people walking the market. She nodded and told me she would seat me. Immediately after she went inside, a woman in her senior age was loud and told me the same thing about my farmers market treat. I was almost done with the bowl and at that point was just waiting for my orders to be taken. Within 1 minute after the bitter sounding woman left, the busboy comes out and tells me the same thing very loud embarrassing me amongst other patrons. At that point I decided to leave and go across the street inside and spend my funds on delicious crab cakes at The Market Lunch. From other recent reviews, looks like I wasn't going to miss much in terms of elevated eats. This business clearly does not participate in the uplifting of the farmers market spirit unless it's for their gain. However, they can't see forest from the trees. I was going to leave spending...
Read moreLHi Capitol Hill neighbors! I have been going to “Tunnies” for over 20 years and the food and staff have always been very good! Today my friend and I decided to get out to have a leisurely lunch. We both have been vaccinated and wear our masks all the time! So masked up, we walked into Tunnies. The bartender just stared at us and said nothing. Eventually one of the workers greeted us and told us where to sit. We had hesitated because we were waiting to be given directions. We had a delicious lunch and super friendly waitress named Barbie. As we were walking out, I was talking and putting my mask on. As I was doing this the bartender yelled at me to put on the mask! I said ok thank you, and said we have had the vaccine. He responded “so what I have not.” Then turned his head away. I said again, thank you. I figured he was stressed out working in a bar during this awful time. I get it. The place was empty. He clearly wasn’t overworked so why be rude? How about, hey don’t forget to put your mask on. Or congrats on the vaccine. Kindness just goes such a long way theses days. I did some shopping today at Eastern Market and everyone was...
