Tucked away in Eastern Market, Bullfrog Bagels will do its job: decent, slightly stale but reasonably priced bagels with a convenient location for a Sunday stroll. The lines are always long, especially after 11am. I’ve gone a few times and have seen the lines stretch pretty far out the door. To be honest, I’m not sure why. However, I wasn’t disappointed either. Despite a long line and post-order wait time, you can’t do much better for the price than a $6.5 sausage, egg and cheese bagel. They typically have available seats on the second floor and serve complementary water. If you’re at Eastern Market, Bullfrog Bagels is a solid breakfast option. Yet I recommend that you come with no expectations or wishes. Come here for basic sustenance.

If you're coming from NYC in search for a NYC style bagel, turn back around and go back home. DC's bagel game is weak with Bullfrog Bagels coming out in front due to lack of good competition. There's Bethesda Bagels, but in my opinion both places make mediocre bagels. They are decent, but nothing like NYC. This location is in Eastern Market and one of the few places nearby that offers early morning breakfast. They made breakfast sandwiches with bacon or sausage and your choice of cheese, but where's the ham? So many people love a ham option that it seems only natural to add it to the menu. If you do end up going here, for sure walk a few houses down to Peregrine Espresso for the best latte in the city!

The most attractive thing about Bullfrog Bagels is definitely the location — tucked right into Eastern Market, it’s a convenient stop for locals and tourists alike. There are a few other spots nearby for breakfast or a sandwich, but not as many as you might expect, which makes Bullfrog a natural choice. Pricing felt fair: a cup of tea and a bagel with cream cheese came to $7. Service was suitable — nothing memorable but efficient enough. As for the bagel itself, it was a bit underwhelming. Dense, not particularly warm or toasted, and more reminiscent of what you might find at the grocery store than a specialty shop. It met the need, but didn’t stand out.

This afternoon was my 3rd time at this location and it was the absolute worst. The customer service was very unpleasant. The young lady who took my order needs better customer service skills. When customers walk in, they are not greeted at all. When customers ask about drink’s because the drink menu is in an awkward place, she says “drink menu is right there, and points”. I placed my order, my order was put together sloppy. I ordered two bottled drinks, and house smoked salmon. I lowered my tip when I paid btw because I was treated rudely before ordering. I felt chastised choosing which type of apple juice and which smoked salmon meal I wanted. When my order was ready, she slapped my bagel on the counter and my drinks. I asked for a bag, she slammed the bag on the counter. So here I am bagging my own items as if I worked there. No big deal, I ask for napkins and she goes “in the container right there!” I look at the container and it’s empty, so she starts aggressively tapping on a Basket on top of the glass counter. One that I’m not tall enough to see inside to know that it was napkins. Customer service goes far, I’ve had amazing experiences at other bullfrog locations. This has always been worst than those. Besides the clear disregard for customers, the floor was soaking wet . The look on the other patrons faces as we were all shocked at how we were all talked to. Thank goodness I enjoy lox and that’s the only reason for...

My girlfriend and I have been to the Bullfrog Bagels on 7th street about 20 times over the course of a year, and everytime it is perfect. Because of Covid, we've been ordering online and picking up. Usually we walk to Lincoln Park and people watch as we shove our faces with delicious bagelwiches, but recently they reopened their tiny, yet comfortable, front patio.

The bagels themselves are flavorful, crunchy, firm, and chewy, as a bagel should be. They are a little smaller than the NY and NJ bagels I've sampled. I care about texture and taste foremost, but the medium size has become a big difference maker for me. It means the ratio of any bagelwich you might prefer is very balanced. We've sampled every bagelwich, as one should, but our staple is the bacon, egg, and cheese with an addition of scallion cream cheese (because we can't resist the decadence). However, The Oriole Bagelwich is unbelievablly good. Turns out slow cooked brisket and a quality bagel are a match made in heaven.

Overall, this is an easy 5 star review. I recommend it to anyone looking for the DC...

Really want to like this place because when they are on, the food is delicious. However, they struggle with completing accurate orders. The last few times we have ordered via their app for pickup, we have walked a mile home only to find they have omitted an item. The last three times we ordered a Bagel with Goat Cheese & Honey (a defined item on their app) only to get home to find they have skipped the Goat Cheese & Honey and we have paid $5 for a plain bagel. Other significant errors were an onion bagel that was as dense, thick, and heavy as clay, and saying they would bring our second item to us shortly, then setting it behind the counter while we waited 15 more minutes for them without notification.

I'm extremely patient, and love supporting this type of business, but they need to do much better in getting their orders right. There's not much that can be done when they've again screwed it up and you've already walked home before unwrapping and discovering.

Edit: Updated rating for outstanding customer service and hope to update again as...
