Burger & Philly Shack — Restaurant in Watauga

It is really disappointing to have to write this review. I have been coming here for many years and have recommended them to everybody I know. I have even personally brought numerous people here and bought the food for them. As soon as I learned new people were buying it I worried things would change as often is the case. In the beginning I was actually told that nothing would change. Went today and the first thing I noticed was that the place was nearly empty which was odd. Then the food was brought out. The next thing I noticed was that they no longer have the large size french fries that I always looked forward to! The new skinny fries they have weren't even edible so I threw them in the trash. My wife asked for cheese fries and they forgot the cheese! When we got home my wife was physically ill, we think maybe the mayo on her blt was expired. My burger also was not the burger that this place used to be known for either. I let them know my disappointment and the response was "well we can't please everybody". It is bad enough that you can't get the food you once loved which is also apparent in the countless recent reviews from once loyal customers, but it is so much worse when the new management is rude and uncaring. I cannot fathom how this restaurant has reoccurring customers. From the first step in, the smell of chemicals reeking from the public restrooms was unappetizing. After filling up my cup, I look down and see black crust over the rim of the cup. I look for a place to sit and within my sight I see a crusty comb with hair on it sitting on the only table that had a reasonably less amount of filth on it. My burger was served black and tasted like coal. The customer service is terrible and from the start the woman at the register had a nasty attitude. From seeing other people’s comments, it seems as if this company cannot take any blame for their horrible service and chemical/filth zone of a restaurant. Leave a bad comment and they will call you a liar and bogus on your claims. Trust me and please never spend a dollar at this establishment. And if you have eaten here, then view other 1 star reviews and don't be surprised when you end up food poisioned. You’d be better off starving and that’s how I left today. EDIT: the owner has removed a nasty comment from a former review by another customer. Fortunately I screen shotted it. Instead of offering service to their good paying customers, this is how they treat them. If they should take anything from the previous owner it should be the passion for the business and people like he had. His passion for food and customers...

A good burger has a fine balance between flavorful meat, veggies, condiments, cheeses, and the bun. These are not good burgers. I’m not even sure burger is the term I would use to describe these All-American Texas-Sized Luscious Melty-Cheese Fresh Veggie Havin Sweet Bun Wrapped Tender Angus Beef Sustenance of the Gods. This thing was so juicy and delicious, it could have been crafted by none other than Odin himself. The Cheese melts around the edges, golden like the treasure that fills the halls of Valhalla. The beef was cooked to absolute perfection, the veggies must have been picked fresh from the gardens of Eden, and the perfectly crafted artisan-like golden-brown bun brings thoughts of a beautiful golden sunset. This is the best burger I’ve had in Texas so far. And although my pants are now two sizes too tight, and I’m fairly certain I’ve broken my belt buckle, my stomach bows down to the almighty Burger and Philly Shack, truly humbled.

I’ll never be the same, in all the right ways.

The staff is friendly and welcoming, but they won’t let me stay. Sadly I must leave these well maintained facilities, but be sure I will return. And whence I do, I will be sure to order another Shack Attack Burger.
